Default drag the jeep?

heh, just bought a 99 jeep wrangler for my winter beater..

aaannndd im tempted to take it to the drag strip for ****s and giggles!

i think i can break into the 23's (dont really know its 1/4 stats) its the 6 cylinder so ill own those 4 cylinder ricer jeeps out there [8D]

could use my 4x4 as a crappy AWD way of launching lol

i could auto x it... but... that may end badly. it does have a full roll cage tho!

Update...
maybe ill challenge my 2 friends with their escape / murano to race... im really borad... i know...

I don't know if you are joking or not, but whatever you do- DO NOT launch that thing on pavement in 4WD!!! You can kiss that transfer case good bye, Jeep half-a$$ bolted those transfer cases in there as it is and I promise you it will break. Don't try launching in Low range 4wd either. I have been a Jeep guy for years, a rule of thumb as far as Low range goes is- Never put it in Low on the asphalt period, it'll snap an axle quick, especiallywhen you are turning. Jeeps are off-road vehicles and can't handle clutch dumps at the track. I know people do it, but it's not good, even for an automatic. Take it on some trails, rocks,or dunes or something where it shines!

Been dragracing my 94 GC Limited the past two years. Yes, never use low range for anything but pulling stumps! As far as launching, the 4x4 is excellent at quick starts but I only power up to 2000rpms on my launch with 1.60 sec 60-ft times! Not bad for such a low rpm range, is it? Never had a transfer case problem or any driveshaft breaks either. The limited GC was quite a bit beefer than what you're using, however, so I'd be very careful. With alot of power adders, a Jeep makes quite a showing on the 1/4 mile scene. Not many 4x4 anythings running low 12's out there.......was hitting 12.3's last season and have rebuilt the motor a little bigger with a slightly larger Vortech s/c......maybe break into the 11's. This is a daily driver with all leather interior, power everything, abs, etc.....just the way I like it. Good luck if you run it.

wow... i was kidding but i guess they can do fairly well.

reason for getting it... needed a winter car, and if its slow, it has to make up for it somewhere. the jeep has alot of other things that i can play with... so it fit the bill. plus ive always loved em. if i bought some basic lill 4 banger with nothing amazing, i would prolly never drive it

i wouldnt mind seeing some pictures or videos, and a mod list for that...

there is a guy in the ohio area with a black cherokee, running the 4.0L, in the mid 12s, running a supercharger, and i believe that he is (i know that he used to) running a small shot of nitrous.
