just fyi. The noise you hear, that pshh noise, that is not the BOV. It is a wastegate. Most people that like that sound, have them. While BOV's make a slight whishing noise, the wastegates make that loud noise.

Every Eclipse except the 4th gen is slow. Unless otherwise modified.

The PSSSHH sound from the BOVs on my Subarus always came from the BOV itself, not the wastegate. The wastegate on my STi had an external dump tube though and that thing sounded like a freight train when it opened up

BOVs can actually hurt the performance of your car. I had a 100% atmospheric BOV on my old WRX for a brief period of time, and while it sounded cool it made me run so rich that my car actually stalled because the engine flooded

I like the way they drive. Good power, nice sound, and the handling is exceptional. I can hit turns going at really high speeds, and this car handles like it is on rails.

WRX, you suck.....How dumb are you?God you are such a ****in idiot. You need to shut the ***k up beatch!

J/K BOV"s do make the noise. They do hinder the performance of cars, I have to agree. While wastegates give that huge sound when opened up...

I prefer the wastegate sound myself. The almost flutter sound it makes makes me happy. Most people I have met prefer the BOV on the Nissan though, it makes more of a whistle sound.

The TurboXS RFL BOV on my old WRX made the typical PSSSH sound, but the HKS SSQV BOV on my STi sounded like a Supra .. it was like a high pitched BUP BUP BUP BUP ha ha

Supras are awesome cars. I've always wanted one. Love that BUP BUP BUP sound though.

FWIW I watched a bone stock GSX running 15.8 ~ 16.0 one night and went over to talk to him...made a few suggestions and his next pass was a 15.2... I made another 3 passes without seeing him run again then watched him click a 14.9.....

A REALLY agressive driver in the right conditions to run a high 14 pass with a stock GSX so it's not something to laugh at...especially if your not a really good driver (I know a number of 99+ GT owners who struggle to get mid 14s...they suck but they exist).

Otherwise driver to driver the 2002 GT has this EASY.

Yeah, one of my friends has a 2000 Mustang GT automaticwith a CAI and his best is still only a 14.8. I've seen that GSX's are rated in magazines as 14.9. But, most people know that magazine numbers aren't always the best numbers a car can muster up. Just get a good launch and you should be fine though.

If those are the only mods done to the GSX you should be able to handle him, you will be playing catch-up from the launch though.

The blow-off valve makes me wonder though. Why have it unless more boost is being run? Maybe he is edging a bit in the mod dept. to make the car seem faster?
Everyone with a turbo car gets a bov even if they aren't running a lot of boost. It's just the thing to do for some reason.
