Blown 2v Mustang track times.... POST THEM!!
Well, as some of you know, i jumped ship on my old 2V and made the switch to the Ls1... I remember us having this discussion a long time ago, but i cant see why so many 2v GT's are only hitting 12.5's with 400 rwhp, and cutting sub 2.0 short times... I mean a 400rwhp F body will go 11's we all know that. To the people who are in the 11's with blown stock bottom end GT's what is your setup? what power are you making? Im very curious to find out what is the correct "formula" for 11sec 2v cars as i have a few friends that are going FI and they are turning to me for advice.
correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the a huge differnce in power curve between n/a 400rwph and blown 400rwhp? i would think that the n/a car would rail a blown car making the same PEAK hp.
Not necessarily. A lot of blown cars make gobs of torque just off idle, where a lot of n/a cars don't reach peak torque until the mid range of the band.
The quickest 2V I've personally seen ran mid 7's in the 1/8th at our local track. He was trailored in, had a built motor/tranny, and a supercharged/n2o setup. He was also on slicks/skinnies. This was also the same night my stalled/50hp shot/nitto'ed car went mid 7's. The guy came up to talk to us and showed us his car and all, I got it on video somewhere, but he was basically wondering the same thing you are. How my car went that quick with literally nothing done to it.

If all you wanted was the look, why not save some money and get the sixxer? I'm constantly perplexed by this. "I bought a Mustang because it looks good, not because it's as fast as some other cars." Then why not buy a 6 popper and call it a day?
not to start a Ls1 vs 2V death match thread, but honestly, what gives with this? My WS6 doesnt start making butt loads of power and tq until above about 3500rpm's with my cam, thatss where it really starts to pull (granted, i can yank the front wheels a bit with skinnies
) but a KB blown 2v feels more peppy out of the hole, i cant see why a 400 HP Ls1 and a 400HP 2V are a second apart in the 1/4th

I havent had my stang to the track post-KB install, but from when I used to go to Lebanon Valley, one thing I noticed is how improperly setup a majority of the mustangs were....street tires + stock suspension + inexperience = 14's-15s [:'(].....i cant believe how many new edge GTs i've seen run a 15.....
I remember one guy who did a few boltons, 4:10s, stock tires....mid/high 13s all day long......he put on a KB 1.7....and for the nature of that blower with 4:10 gears on a slipping stock clutch and stock tires, a few of his times were worse than his N/A runs because he spun so much. I felt embaressed for him....
Then you see the people with gobs of horsepower and stock axles that are afraid to launch it hard and kinda slip it in.....We've all seen the 600 horsepower dyno queens run **** at the track.
hell theresa video on youtube somewhere of a dude with a twin tubro stang....i think he broke 1000 rwhp....and because he couldnt hook, it was 11's all day long....
i wont be able to tell you until the spring what my setups going to net ...I parked her Nov.1st for the winter.
But if you want to give your friends advice, tell them to start with suspension and tires....followed by adding power, and lotsa practice....

well i know suspension is a given but still.. without serious work on the rear end, how much better are you going to do than a 1.8 or so 60 foot? given the average driver..... i see a lof of stangs with 1.8 short times, but running 12.3-12.5 [&:]
I didn'thave a blown 2v put I did have a 2v on spray. It went a 12.10's all day with just 4.10, x-pipe, cat back, cai, 100 shoot, mt dr's. With headers it would have gone 11's allday. That is with 1.63-1.65 60's, no work to the suspension.
Dont know if it really has anything to do with this.....but dont ls1's make all their power way up in the powerband?
I raced a friend with a cammed 00 z28 from a stop...after i had my heads/cams, but prior to my blower install...i was makin around 300-310ish rwhp......I romped him from a stop but around 60 or 70mph, he pulled on me like a bat outta hell....
i bet if you took 3 mustangs with identical suspension/tire setups....one was n/a, one had a KB and one had a procharger......at the same powerlevel, the N/A stang would probably romp on both of em in the 1/4.....followed by the procharger.....followed by the KB.......same power level, different power curves.... I'm guessing the same probably goes for LS1's vs a KB GT
