Default This was a good one...

I was on the way to work this morning and decided to head up to Interstate 80 and sweep into work that way instead of RT 84... Just as I am merging onto I-80 a newer looking Jag (XJ8) sped up and kept me from merging over like I wanted... So I sat calmly until he was past me...merged in behind, signaled over to the left and blew past him. (If someone is merging and the left lane is wide open...MOVE OVER) Already I was a bit peeved with the guy but whatever... I passed him up and saw a gap in traffic where I could move over to the right lane again and take my exit ramp coming up. As I am moving up on my gap I look behind me and he was about 2 lengths back and closing (must have had a similar Idea I suppose)... so I get to the right and wait for my exit... he pulls in the right lane behind me and signals. Alright, Looks like he is headed down the ramp so lets see if he wants to play any... The exit from I-80 to Rt-5 is a banked S-bend that ends in a tighter right hand sweep rated at 35mph..The top part of the ramp is wide and narrows considerably as you drop down through it. In the past I've been through this thing at 70+mph with an EVO on my *** but it was cold so I thought I wouldn't risk the pavement being slippery... I dropped into the top of the S at about 75mph in 3rd gear and eased through the first curve (largest of the bends) then let the engine pull me down to around 60mph as I swept through the tighter curve then held 60 though the last one just to put some pressure on the guy. I glanced back and he must have lost his nerve halfway through because he was near me on the first bend but by the 2nd one he was dropping back quickly... then as he exited the ramp he sped up to get next to me. I was curious to see what he thought was going to happen so I looked over and waved for him to go. He was in his 30s from what I could tell and it took him a moment to figure out I was giving him the hit... I waited for a moment to make sure he was actually trying (sure enough he started pulling right away and I could hear his car downshift and accelerate).. I dropped into 3rd at around 60mph and ended his attempt pretty quickly. (I let off at about 100 with a few lengths as expected). I slowed up and tossed the guy a thumbs up for playing but he continued on and didn't look over.

Ah well...at least something happened this morning instead of the usual 1 hour drive with nothing but deer/turkey spottings.

When you come up to get up on the highway like that. Your the one that has to yield. not the other cars.
