Sorry but a 96 cobra with gears and exhaust would have ran at least even with you. His car starts out with 305hp at the very least, which your car might come close to making with the mods, but a better geared 96 cobra would have walked all over you. I have seen a 97(same as 96) run a 14.1 at the track bone stock and with only a set of gears get consistent 13.5s all day. So I hope to god the kid can't drive. Either way good kill.

like I said he got me off the line because I wasnt expecting a race really to begin with. It went back and forth for till 2nd gear and then that is when I started pulling on him. Definately would like to go a full 1/4 mile at the strip with one of those to see how it would really be, but none the less it was a nice little "read safe" stoplight to stoplight so to speak

I'm not doubting you, but I am sayin I have seen a 97 cobra drop about .5 of a second with only gears and some driver imporvement. Those cars have the power top start with and gears only add to the list add disadvantages you have.

I agree, 10 years ago they were impressive to say the least. I'm sure that cobra has seen better days. I'd love to have the same platform to work with engine wise.

No apparently the 95s dyno at about 240 which would mean they are very underrated. I am not sure however what they dyno at because I have never seen one, or seen a sheet claiming that. If it was the 96 then it would have a good 45 hp over the OP when he was stock, but the same source that told me about the dyno numbers also said they run the 1320 in about the same as the 95s because the 95sare better geared. And just incase you don't believe me check out the thread where I raced a 95 cobra with my friends 01 cobra, thats where I got my info.
That'd put them at around 285hp crank

With those mods, if you wanna run with any 96+ Cobra you better spend some more money... your tb/plenum will only give you 5-7rwhp.. and you're going to need more, including gears to beat him...

OP:

Nice kill, however you shouldn't have won that race - but nice kill nevertheless. Its always nice to be the underdog and win :-D...

That 96 Cobra with the gears, really wakes them up a lot... and while your 4.10s really gave you the win on the race, his 4v which has more of a powerband should've kept you at his door atleast (as he got the jump on you).

very nice...there's a few 96-98cobras running around here that i would like to run against...think i need a few more mods first. (full exhaust, tb/ plenum) then ill be ready haha. oh yeah and this mach 1 w/ slp catback and 75 shot hehehe
