Well, I could not help myself.

I have a neighbor with a 2007 GTO who thinks Mustang's Suck! So on the way home after dropping our son's off for Football Practice the other day we hit a light on a clean/straight stretch of a 2 lane highway. Well....he wanted to show me how fast he was!!! And he did, I could see him in my rear view mirror and he was getting smaller and smaller! Not even a challenge. When we got home he walked over and handed me a cold beer and said "That is one sweet ride!"

So picking my son up from practicetoday, I find outmy neighbor was tellinganother kids Dad about it and how bad he got beat. So the Dad is waiting in the parking lot with his 1992 GMC Typhoon! All the coaches are cop's or fireman so they block off a stretch of road about 1/2of a mile long (Damn near in front of the Police Station) and we decide to go for it!

We get all the coaches and players in the Police Station parking lot to watch and we head on down to the far end. The cop sits in the same lot as the coaches and kids with his radar gun! He says that as soon as he turns his overhead flashers on to go.

I gotta tell you I am as nervous as I have ever been! Guess my jitters got the best of me because he got on it before I did. But it seemed like I ran right by him. Anyway, the Typhoon is really fast but I beat him by about 2 1/2 car lengths. I did not know an SUV could be so fast!!! He said the radar gun showed I was doing 113MPH.

Guess next spring I will have to go to a track and see how fast it really is and get some proof!

So now one of the coaches wants to try the same thing tomorrow with his 99 Vet! So I totally expect to get KILLED tomorrow!!! The head coach has a Viper (not sure what year!). I know I won't beat the Viper. So I won't even try!!!

Anyway, I had my first and second kills in my new 08 Steeda. What a rush!!!

 

Yea those Typhoons can be pretty fast. There's a guy in my area that has one running a 6.8 1/8 mile.

 

With your mod list you shouldnt have a problem against the vette unless he has alot of mods.

 

His Vet is Stock, I think!

Man that VID really makes me wince! Ouch!!!

 

By the same token, though, w/ his mods, an LS2 GTO should have been a close race.




BTW, there is no '07 GTO. Last year was '06. But nice kills. If you're car is fast enough to kill a GTO that bad, you should have no trouble w/ a stock/near stock C5 Vette.....

 

Yeah, thinking about it the GTO had to be a 2006. He said he had it for a year now! Duh!! He is stock other than a CAI without a tune. Yeah, I bet on a track and not on a highway between lights his GTO would have doen a little better! I think after I got in front of him he must have let off.

I think the GTO's are pretty sweet! I may get one for my wife in February! Then I can play with it myself and do some minor mod's to it!

4 1/2 hours or so until I take on the 99 Vet! I have some hope now that everyone seems to think I should be able to handle him. I still can't believe I did this with the cops and right by the Police station! Kinda funny!!!


Anyway, I will let everyone know what happens if we do this tonight! I am a little nervous!!!

 

So do I put little X's on the back of my car for these kills? Like they do for fighter pilots when they get a kill! LMAO! Just kidding! Don't want to get cocky!
