Default New best with work to do

First time to the track with the Turbo. It was street legal night, the last race of the year so I thought I would go. My only complaint about the track was a lack of prep. While getting my car ready, the owner of the tracksaw me using a tire pressure gauge/inflator to lower my air pressure in my DR's (my digital was stored away somewhere). He asked to borrow it to use on other cars as needed and specifically to put air in the Ambulance tire. I thought it might be good to have a good running Ambulance so I happily gave it up. At the end of the night ,I spoke with him for a few minutes and retrieved my tool. He said he wished he could afford to do a little more track prep on Street Legal nights, but because of how little money it brings in, he preps the track and sprays it one time prior to racing. Through out the night they take breaks and walk/brush/sweep the track but that's it. It adds up to a fun night with the first 300' being pretty slippery.

My car,

2006 GT, Manual,4.10's, rear girdle, tokico's, eibach, steeda control arms, PRO 5.0, JBA shorty headers.

Powred by STS single @ 9.4 psi (high boost)

Weather conditions, lower 50's with fog. Rained earlier in the day and the day prior.

First run

2.14 60'
87.69 1/8 (no et for 1/8??)
12.94 @115.77

2nd run

2.285 60' (no water in burn out box)
88.11 1/8
13.23 @ 99.24

I actually got out of it at the 1000' foot mark as I overboosted and my warning light came on.

3rd (hot lap)

2.06 60'
89.71 1/8
12.61 @114.60

4th

1.89 60'
89.20 1/8
12.45 @ 116.23

5th (had to sit at line for 3-4 minutes while they mopped up the radiator fluid from a WS6. I'll share that story later)

1.95 60'
89.16 1/8
12.45 @ 115.15

6th

1.95 60'
89.16 1/8
12.45 @ 115.28

WhatI need for 11's: different DR's (looking at MT ET streets in 305/45/18, Line lock, track prepand better weather.

pretty good runs. you need to get some 15" rims with a 28" tire or so if ur gonna keep the 4.10s

4.10 gears + turbo + no track prep = bad

hell i run 3.31s on my 6, and if track prep isnt good im facing a wall.

edit: consistent runs too, i just noticed the last 3 runs were almost carbon copies lol

Yeah, your e/t's are saying high 11's but not w/ what you have to work w/ as far as track prep is concerned. What dr's are you running and @ what pressure?

I run the BFG 265/40/18 @ 15 psi. This is part of my problem. The 18's don't give the cushion you need for a great launch. Seems like all or nothing for traction. I either pull a 1.80 60' or close to a 2.00.

The 15' wheels with the slicks is what I will eventually do. But my matching pretty 18x10's look so good. Whats more important? Looking good or going fast? I think if I pulled an 11 at the track everyone would forget my front wheels don't match my back.

To add some insight to the traction issue...I watched the video and didn't see the desired amount of smoke coming from my tires on the burnouts I did.

I need line locks and a 2nd gear burnout.

Yes there is video. However I am very ignorant as to what to do to get it posted, The video is an hour away for right now so it's not possible. If someone knows how and would like to expain it to a retard, feel free to PM me.

What kind of 60' are you getting? I'm searching for a good gear ratio to go to by this next spring along with a new diff. Right now I'm crossing the line in 4th at 6,000 rpms.

My first gear is so short I don't get to utilize my boost.

the BFGs are pretty good IMO... I have the same and pulled a 1.789 60" on the way to a 12.35 @ 111 - I had 12 psi in the tires

with your MPH u've got 11s in the car no doubt... you need to launch harder from your 60s two guys I know with centri S/C and 4.10s (alum ds) run 11.6 and 11.4 respectively.

where r u launching? and how? dump or slip?

I realize that it is hardly applicable, but the SVO with 4.10's in it when I first bought the car ran 15.40's, and with the 3.55's, a touch more boost and timing went 14.90's.
