Default OMG....Ls9 pics!

This is it. Thanks to an anonymous tipster we have what appear to be the very first and clearest shots yet procured of the 2009 LS9 6.2-liter V8 engine powering the 2009 Corvette ZR1 -- something we weren't expecting to see until the Detroit Auto Show in January. But, since information yearns to be free -- and whoa, nelly, do these shots show off some serious information on what will be the most serious piece of weaponry in the General's quiver come next year -- here they are and here's what we know. Essentially what you're looking at is what appears to be a standard twin-screw-type supercharger mounted below a highly efficient air-to-water intercooler system. Now, we can't speculate if it's tied into the engine system or if it has an independent radiator system -- but we feel pretty confident all of this is a one-off, which means the General's running the show on every single horsepower above and beyond the stock horse output from the 6.2-liter V8 it all sits atop. Gearheads, your engine pr0n awaits in the photogallery below. While you check that out we're going to go and hide from GM's shock troopers. Hey, does anyone know the number for the witness protection program?

Yea, a bolt on LS9 vette is probly gonna be in the single digits. I'll bet a pro driver hits 9's with a stock car on slicks.

I doubt it will hit 9s, unless the bolt-ons put it over 800hp at the crank....unless thats what it would be after CAI and some exhaust, and a pulley swap....hmmmmm

I'd like to see one in action NOW, screw waiting until 2009.

800hp at the crank is definetly gonna be doable with bolt ons. Figure its got 650 to start(ill bet its gonna be more than that and underrated like all LSx's), pulley swap, full exhaust, cai and tune would probly pick up close to 150hp. A blown 6.2liter is no joke, an I can't wait to see it perform. Few years down the road I might have to pick up a used one(assuming theyr not ungodly expensive... which they probly will be)

I doubt they even need full exhaust. With the right pulley swap, CAI, cat back and tune I can see very close to 800hp.

But full exhaust just sounds better anyway.

Twin screw 6.2L with water intercooling....the torque in that thing is going to be absolutely insane. I'll bet just like with the LS7, it'll be one of only 2 engines to produce over 500hp and be exempt from the federal gas guzzler tax for it's good mileage(for what it is). And the only 2 engines that'll have that title will be the LS7 and LS9.
