Ok So I Was At a Light And This Volvo 850 Pulls Up Next To Me. And He Started Reving Up His SWEDISH MUSCLE! lol So I Give Him A Little Show By Reving up The Dual Flowmaster 40's Which I Am In Love With :P So THe Light Turns Green And We Both Floor It, At First We Were Even Until I Hit Second And Gained About Half a Car Length On Him, But I Figured I Would Be Pulling Harder And Gain More But He Stayed On My Door,This Was The First Run And We Hit About 60. The Second Run We Take Off About Equal Again And Second Gear I Pull Away And Through The Gears I Keep Pulling And Slowly Take The Lead And I Have To Slow Down So I Can Pull On To My Road And Be Then I Have About 2.5 Car Lengths On Him. It Boogles My Mind That I Didn't Blow Him Away, I Know The Car Because The Driver Was My Buddy, And All He Has Is An Intake On It.

What Can I Do To My Car To Make It Faster?

I Have Dual Exhaust
And An Intake That I Still Have To Install...Anything Else?
Volvo's are pretty quick if their turbo'd! My wife had an S40 turbo that would put a hurting on many an unsuspecting ricer.

Watch out for any models that say T5! They would give a stock new edge a hard time. An S60R would put lengths on a new edge. If it's the manual S60R it would be a drivers race for a Mach 1, plus it would outhandle any of our cars in the turns.

Don't be fooled by the name Volvo. It's not just safety, it's safety and speed.

...........wow, I sound like a damn commercial or something
Yes S40 Turbos Are Fast! I Own One :P Its Definetly A Sleeper But For You Gt Owners The Real Volvo Sleepers Are S70 Turbos The T5s Are Fast But If You See A T6 Be Prepared To Get Beat.. OH Yes! S60Rs Well I Would Just Back Off HAHAHAHA

I Have A Few Buddies That Own Volvos One Is The 850 I Raced And The Other Is The S70...I Can't Believe How Fast Those Cars Are...

Oh And As The Captial Letter Thing Goes I Type Just As Fast As I Would Normally, I Got Into This Habit For Some Odd Reason And Can't Stop...Its So Hard Writing Term Papers For School :P

Also The Car I Raced Is A Non Turbo And An Automatic Like Mine. I Think I Might Get My Baby Tuned After I Take Her Out For The Summer And Install My Intake The Intake This Week.

And Maybe Order Some Parts......
Yea, well it makes your posts hard to read andis pretty bad manners on a forum.

Um no.

A stock S60R is not going to beat a Mach 1, or a properly driven manual new edge. They're fast to 60 because of AWD(mid 5s), but their 1/4 miles times are mid 14's.

Because as a participant in an online discussion, a poster should make thier posts as easy to read as possible. If he was asking a tech question I would not even bother to read his question. Same goes for typing in all caps (which is considered yelling) or failing to use punctuation.

Man I hate the media! When I was looking to buy an S60R last year, they said the auto's did 14 second 1/4 miles, and the manual did low 13 second 1/4 miles. I thought that was quite a difference from an auto to a manual. But that's what everything said.

So I decided against it. Now I said what I did, and you corrected me. I went off to look for what I read a year ago so I can show you, and to my surprise everything was aligned with what you said. I was floored! I remember thinking when I was going to buy that car it would be nice to basically annihilate 95% of the cars on the road.

Glad I didn't buy it then, I would've been quite surprised when I pulled up against a Mach 1!

I'm not sure about their modding potential, but being turbo I'm wouldn't be suprised if you can just easily turn up the boost to get 400+hp out of them.

Oh, I know they are extremely easily moddable (is that even a word? lol)

New Edge Mustangs used to say they ran 13.8 or 13.9 in the 1/4 mile and the SRT4 did the same, in all the mags. Then all of a sudden 4 years later now everything claims it does mid 14's.

Sometimes I wonder if they underinflate numbers years later, so the new cars coming out seem faster than they really are. I don't know, maybe I'm just a crackhead

As F*cking stupid as that sounds, I've noticed it also.[8D]2004 SRT-4 car & driver numbers. 13.9@103
2005 car and driver numbers once they find out the neon wont be produced anymore 14.3@99I also remember new edge mustangs being high 13 second cars in magazines. I could very well be wrong. But I also think they deflate the old models numbers or inflate the new ones so you'll always be interested in the next new model coming out. Who knows, maybe I'm also on crack.

They use the numbers from their latest test. If their first individual road test numbers proved a 13.9 sec run that's what they'll list. If 6 months later they use another one, in let's say a comparison test, and it gets 14.3, then that's what they'll list.
