1.) you didn't need to ask twice
2.) prepare to be owned buy saying "i'm new to street racing"
3.) you sound like your 16
4.) you should probably learn how to drive and handle a car then come back
5.) your questions are being answered in the other thread
6.) thats all

Actually guys, that's a respectable question assuming he has infinite loads of money to play with. Also, like cobra232 said, be new to track racing and leave the streets safe, last thing I want to hear is my buddy (a firefighter) saying he had to go scrape some kid off the road after he crashed his stang racing, because he's done that several times.
For racing, however, both V6s and V8s have their advantages. Now out of the box the GT/Cobras are better, duh, which is what Ford intended for you to buy anyways as the V6 is just a base option so that some people can actually afford to own a Mustang rather than being like the Corvette where it's V8 and high prices, or nothing. Now with that being said let's run some numbers here:
94-95 3.8L V6 -145 bhp, 215 lb torque, 0-60 9.9s (C&D Mag) , 1/4 in 17.3s (C&D Mag)
96-98 3.8L V6 - 150 bhp, 215 lb torque, same specs as above (better auto tranny than previous, and better engine construction)
99-04 3.8L V6 - 190/193 bhp, 225 lb torque, 0-60 in approx 7.8s manual, 8.6s auto, 1/4 mile times between 15.4-16.8 (driver pending)
04 3.9L V6 - 190 bhp, 230 lb torque, same specs as above, Ford ran out of 3.8L halfway through production and subed in the windstar engine
05-08 4.0L V6 - 210 bhp, 235 lb torque, 0-60 times range from 6.9s (C&D) - 7.8s, 1/4 mile times - 15.3s (C&D) - 16.2s
Now let's look at the GT
94-95 5.0L V8 - 215 bhp, 288 lb torque, 0-60 - 6.1s (C&D Mag), 1/4 mile - 14.9s (C&D Mag)
96-98 4.6L V8 - 215 bhp, 290 lb torque, 0-60 - 6.4s (Motor Trend Mag) , 1/4 mile - 15.2 (Motor Trend Mag)
99-04 4.6L V8 - 260 bhp, 302 lb torque, 0-60 - 5.5s (C&D), 1/4 mile - 14.1s (C&D)
05-08 4.6L V8 - 300 bhp, 320 lb torque, 0-60 - 5.1s (C&D), 1/4 mile - 13.5s (C&D)
OK, now the Cobra
94-95 5.0L V8 - 240 bhp, 285 lb torque, 0-60 - 5.9s (C&D), 1/4 mile 14.5s (C&D)
94-95 5.0L V8 (SVO GT-40 Option) - 290 bhp, N/A torque, 0-60 5.4s, 1/4 mile - 13.9s/14.2s (unoffical Ford times)
96-98 4.6L V8 - 305 bhp, 300 lb toruqe, 0-60 5.4s (C&D), 1/4 mile 14.0s (C&D)
99/01 4.6L V8 - 320 bhp, 317 lb torque, 0-60 5.4s (C&D), 1/4 mile 13.9s (C&D)
03/04 4.6L V8 - 390 bhp, 390 lb torque, 0-60 4.5s (C&D), 1/4 mile 12.9s (C&D)
07/08 5.4L V8 - 500 bhp, 0-60 4.5s (R&T), 1/4 mile 12.9s (R&T)
Now as you can see, as the option increases, so does performance. Now the higher the model the more potential a car has unless you do some wicked mods to a lower end car. Now it takes a nice deal of cash to get any V6 just running with it's GT counterpart, not to mention the Cobra, however, the V6 does have one major advantage, which is especially noticible in autocrossing, and that is weight. The V6, generally weighs 200 or more pounds less than their V8 counterparts. Now I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but if a V8 and a V6 were to have approx the same numbers, the V6 would have a slight edge due to the weight loss, and that would become even more apparent in the twisties. However, building up a powerful V6 takes lots of cash, time, labor, and research to do it right. Also, generally speaking, the V6, being smaller, is a little stronger engine block over the 4.6L and much stronger than the 5.0L, which means it can take more stress in tight situations.
Now with all that being said, out the box a V8 is better, for strip use, a V8 will generally be better, however, for track/twisty use, a nicely setup V6 will have the edge.

Good explanation. At least someone can write an unbiased review of what certain cars are capable of. It gets a little bit old with some ofthe V6 guys getting pissy about not having the power of a GT/Cobraor when the GT/Cobra guys come into the V6 section and talk about how the V6 is gay and not a real 'Mustang'.
I would rather havea V6 for any type of road racing. As said, they are much lighter than the V8's and you can do nearly all of the same suspension and brake work to a V6 as you can to a V8 andthesewill work better on the V6 since it is lighter. If I was into just drag racing I would do a V8 swap or buy a CT/Cobra in your case. The only thing I think that really sucks is we V6's don't have the V8 sound. I especially love the sound of the Ford Mod motors. It would be nice to have a V8 at times though. lol

! THey got WAY more power than the V-8's. And you can put a huge fartcan on the back
