2007 MazdaSpeed 6
What is the top speed of a Mazdaspeed 6? 140ish? Hell, GT's can top out close to 150. Some have hit 150, and redlined the hell out of it. A simple tuner would change all that. From what my old mazda guys told me was the M6 was electronically limited to somewhere around 140. Top end or not, I don't think your friend went all the way in his GT, or, the driver of the M6 removed the limiter. I have no clue about the top end. So, please correct me if I'm mistaken.
I dont know how far up he went nor at what point he mightve took him. Couldve been at 100mph or at 140mph...dont know.
Two corrections. The MazdaSpeed6 (called MPS6 in Europe) is 263hp/280tq in Europe. In the US, the 2006 MS6 (mine), comes with 274hp/280tq. The 2007s got a reflash and came with 270hp. The MazdaSpeed3 in the US comes with 263hp/280tq...not sure about Europe.
Top speed of the MS6 is Electronically limited to 155mph, although mine seems to stop at 153mph. I havent tried the topspeed with the SRI on to see if the 153mph topend is a matter of power/aerodynamic or limiter. I havent done it because I get fuel cut shifting from 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th around 5.8K. Redline is at 6.5k but car (stock ECU) regulates boost to 5.8K...in other words, you have to shift at 5.8K before the boost starts to drop. Mind you, the speedometer reads 180mph lol
5.8k in 6th gear is around 138-140mph...thats when I get the fuel cut and has happened to me once (after i got the SRI). Scared the crap out of me lol. I need to get a fuelcut defenser or/then/anda piggyback. This is because the stop intake inlet is smaller that the big SRI pipe where the MAF is, same quantity of air flow by but since the pipe is bigger the MAF read/feels its less and makes the ECU suck for more, thus boosting more psi's and hitting boost cut which consequently does fuel cut. Im boosting 17psi, and spike at 18psi sometimes which is when it hits me. This shouldnt happen with an intake but then again it was a CAI i custom made into a SRI. So in technical terms, I am accidentally quick. Just to clarify, I dont let the car hit fuel cut, I shift before it does, but I will if I let it go pass 5.8-5.9K.
With the piggyback you can eliminate the 5.8k regulation, which would enable the car to hold boost till redline, 6.5K. Stock boost is 15.6psi, bump that up to 17-18psi and hold it till redline. Take off the dual exhaust and put a single one for more power (dont need two for a 4banger) and you got yourself a quick car.
These MS's are good cars I tell ya. I love mine.

Funny, I was tossing between the Mazdaspeed 6 and the Stang before I settled on the stang. I had alot of respect for the 6, but the Mustang just won out for me. I wouldnt mind having a Mazdaspeed 6 though, cool car. 4 door family car with serious *****

awd>fwd imo
the 3 is better
I like the MS6 quite a bit, but they have an electronicfuel cutoff is a real killer for the car when it comes to overall potential. Crying shame right there.
If you mean the boost regulations, the car runs high 13s with it. Its quick as it is. And you can take it off with a piggyback if you wish to make it run faster.
^from what i've read on mazdas247.com and protegegarage.com is the MS6s have a real bitch of a fuel system to deal, so much so that running real amounts of boost is a daunting task. so much so that in some cases even a standalone ECU wont get around the problem. The non-mazda speed cars dont have the problem because they are NA, and the people who are really trying to build MS6s are having a terrible time with this fuel cutoff problem. I can hop on there and get the technical term for it, but thats the jist of it.
