Raced a full bolt on Cobra...
Well like it says... I raced a Cobra, but it was a '99, none the less...
I was cruising the strip in our town and had made a loop already when he passed me. I looked in the rear view and he pulls a U turn in middle of the street and chases me down. Well I didnt wanna race in town so I asked him if he knew of the local straight away right outside the city limits where all the kids race and he said no but he would follow me. So we get out there and from a 10 mph roll in first gear, we took off on the third horn blow. I had him from the start and his front bumper was almost at my rear. He was pulling on me but as soon as I hit fourth he had no chance. We raced up to about 80mph and I had to stop for traffic in the distance.
We pulled over and talked and he said he was a full bolt-on besides LT headers and those were coming soon (also had 4.10's) He said that the IRS bounces really bad and its hard to get traction.
Well we line up on the street side by side and both do burnouts. I blew the horn three times and I instantly had about two cars on him from a dig and can see him out the rearview this entire race. We slowed back down and asked me if I was really running a GT engine and I said YEAP! He said thats awsome and that I had an awsome car. He was a really cool guy and is coming to one of our local meets this weekend.
Just thought I would brag a little.
