there are way too many variables to be sure without actually running the two cars next to each other but I'm fairly certain the terminator would just start to gallup away.... the the two cars have two completely different gearing, the LS2 is built for top end where the 4.6Lmustang always has had a problem passed 120MPH, but the 5th gear in the cobra is not adversely affected because it has that boost hanging with it through the last gear and the DOHC really helps it out throughout so it performs just as well
I'm not sure who would start to pull after 100MPH... the goats gearing and top end powermight might shine once up to those speeds, but I honestly couldn't give you a nod to either car.I think it would be too close with an edge to the cobra (reasoning: the 390BHP was severely underated from the factory and put down alot more than it should to the wheels, and it's also 100lbs lighter)

i would give it a win to the cobra but it still be a drivers race...
on the topic of the ls2 vs termi on top end... if were just comparing stock to stock with a tune ONLY to cut the top speed limiter off i would say the termi will win because of the s/c providing better power curves. And if the termi engine didnt go boom (which on one run i wouldnt think it would but who knows [8D]) id still give it to the termi.in 5th gear the termi pulls 170 mph in the videos ive seen just my .2

On the top end question....
My automatic GTO sucked on top end. It would hit 135mph and lose a lot of its grunt.It would still hit 155, but very slowly.I drove a M6 LS1 GTO before and topped it out at 155mph alot easier. The 6th gear in those things has no pull, so once you hit 155mph reving out 5th gear, your not going to pull much harder (or at all) once in 6th.6th gear is merely an overdrive for GTOs. The LS2 has 50 more horses, so I'm sure it would pull a little more in 6th, but I highly doubt it'll run 170mph like the Cobra.

A stock LS1 GTO should reach the 170mark and it's rumored that a stock LS2 M6 can reach the 180mph mark. They are decent in the aerodynamic area....
FWIW A BONE STOCK LS2 powered Monaro was clocked at 185mph. I wouldn't count it out completely on the big end.

awhile back i wandered into the SVT secions and asked the guys about their cars, the said a stock termie is around 360rwhp stock or 420 crank. this could be a good race because as we all know both cars ave awesome drag suspension [:'(]

x2... An LS2 GTO can get pretty close to a typical stock Termi time from the get go...a cam + bolt on GTO should have more thana chance against a termi with just exhaust.
