Default Different size rims?

I read a lot that lighter/skinny tires/wheels in the front are great for drag racing. Can I run 16X7 wheels in the front of my car and 17X8's in the rear for a DD? What problems if any could occur with this? Thanks for the help ahead of time!

Nothing other than it makes it harder to rotate your tires haha. That and if you're running larger rims than stock it can mess with your speedo a bit.. put you off by a few mph. Nothing major though.

If you are asking about stock 16" wheels on the S197, then they are not that much lighter than the 17x8" wheels and Pirellis found on the V6 Pony Package and the GT's. Maybe only a couple of lbs. You certainly can run different size wheels front to back, but as it was stated, you can't rotate them around. You can use your handheld tuner to adjust the tire revs per mile so your speedo is reading correctly.

In my case, when it's warm I run the stock 17x8" Bullitt/Pirelli on the front and race (at the track) with 17x9" replica Bullitts and 275/50R17 M&H Racemaster DR's. Being a DR, they actually weigh less than the stock wheel/tire. And the replica wheels look close enough to stock that nobody notices the difference.

In your case, I've seen members put 255/50R16 Mickey Thompson ET Street DR's on an extra pair of stock 16" rims, which are dirt cheap on fleabay.

16's? MAN SLAP Some 22's on it lol jk. Man this aint a civic its only like 15 lbs difference. You guys are **** about this lbs crap. Your not gonna be keeping up with gto and corvettes if you change it into 16's. Your best mod would be to learn how to drive your car right.

Do you have any room to talk?

Try driving around with a 30 pound rim and then go down to a 15 pound rim and say that it doesn't make a difference.

To the OP no this will not harm anything. Look at most Euro cars and you will notice that their front rimsare an inch or two smaller than their rear rims. You won't really notice to much of a difference just going from a 17 to a 16 though, especially if you are going to be running roughly the same size tire.

Why? Mustangs can be built to handle extremely well. Maybe you should hurry up and sell your car.

I love mustangs but They can handle, I havent gotton to ride in a roush but come on its not never gonna handle as good as for example an M3, s2000, evo or even a corvette. Ive been in a zr1 package c6 and is not too good IMO. Ive Test driven german cars often and they can F**kin handle. I get to drive different cars sometimes and American cars sucked compared to germans. I drive my mustang because it feels faster and goes better than german v8's and is Beautiful but I dont expect it to take it around corners or go fast downcurvey mountain roads. I had a g35 and it wazs pretty good on handling. I drive my moms fx35 which is a big g35 pretty much and handle waayyyy better than my stang. Why do you care about me selling my stang, im selling to get av vert terminator which will handle worse. What mustang do you have INDIPOSSIBLE TEENS?
