Sorry its so long...


There is this guy I work with who owns an 03 SRT4, just out of fun I asked him, when I first found out it was his, "When we gonna line em up?" First thing he said was "$500 to open the hood or race", that sounded way too cocky to me, so I figured he was just being a smartass. He stops by my section at work one night and we got to talking about cars. He was saying he would whup me from a 45-120 roll and would race 60-160 for $1000. Also one of his "Ricer" friends was sayin how it is the fastest car on base. I found this to be rather funny, and after doing the math I sumized that my quick car would run 170 without too much trouble. Its also a mid 10 second 1/4mile ride that I still have alot of work to do on. My 98 LS1 is just my driver and I dont really consider it when I am talking about racing for $$$. My fast car is one of the top ten on base, but we arent sure of the fastest yet.

So a bud of mine and I head out to the 1/8 track last night. He happens to be there, I drive in the gate, let my bud out of the car and take it to the line. One of the Mustang guys I know lined up with me, its a white Fox with a few things done nice car and all. Well this kid rides along with him, he stayed with me for about 60 feet then I left him. There was quite a bit of distance between us, when we get back to the staging lanes, the SRT4 guy asks if it ran a 9.3 or 9.4 because the Stang ran a 9.5 and it didnt look like it was that far to them. So I replied it ran an 8.8 @ 81, we had already established it is a 2.73 geared mileage car for me and was completely stock. He got a pained look on his face and walked off.

A while later he comes to the start line where I am standing, I ask how hes doin and everything, being nice. Asked if his car was there, he said he was getting some DR's. I said that was cool, looking forward to seeing the imrpovement. He says there is alot of sh** talkin goin on in our unit and he wants it to stop. Then he proceedes to spout off excuses that ricers usually use, 2.5L vs 5.7L, his car is slow from a dig, he only has a 4 and I have an 8 and we arent in the same class, the usual stuff. He figured he had the fastest car, and when I proved what I was saying to be true he got mad about it. His modded 03 ran a best or 9.3 and you know they always think there is a bit more in it. He then says if he hears anything about his car that I said again, he will "take care of it in the ring". I really thought that was funny as hell. He is like 6'4 and about 170lbs, a bean pole. I am 5'8" and used to wrestle for the Air Force in Germany, I can bench near 500 lbs and there is nothing small about me other than my height. Used to powerlift and I havent lost a fight since I was 16, not that I go out of my way to get in them, I just usually end them.

So I have this skinny kid with a slower car threatening me and feeling bad because he bought the wrong car and cant back up what he talks. The difference between him and me is I back up what I say. I know what my cars are capable of and I built them, (except for the 98. I havent done anything but change oil and put gas in).

So heres what I think, I will antagonize him even more unless he will get off his "I am god in a Neon" trip and we can be friends (sorta) again. He hasnt heard anything yet, me being the biggest trash talker around here, but one that can back it up. I dont pick fights or races with people I dont know much about. That seems smarter, he figured he had me no matter what I drove. Dont you guys feel he needs an education about what cars to mess with and which ones not to antagonize? Kinda a listen and look before you speak and dont assume anything?

 

you should have stomped his azz! he deserves it, and now that he has seen your car he wants to be buddies.........that is funny!

Hell of a story. It was funny I enjoyed the part about taking care of it in the ring. Benching 500lbs yeah right I just had to throw that in there but hey 500lbs more power to you, I can't do it.

What the hell is wrong with that kid?

 

Yeah I am getting back up to around 450 with a goal of 525 by mid summer. Had an injury recently so I had to stop lifting, its back on now.


I forgot to mention...

I got my azz handed to me by a stock engine Fox too. TKO 5 gear and nittos on it. The exhaust wasnt quite stock tho.. Something about twin turbos in a stock engined fox makes them move pretty well. He would spin all the way down the track, when the tires hooked the clutch would slip. Cool guy, we talked for a long time about it. If he will let me I will do some pics when he gets his heads, cam intake and the rest of the stuff he orderd on it. its green with Cobra wheels, purdy....

 

I forgot, we are both USAF so I cant really kick his ***, he really cant threaten me like he did. Not that its intimidating...lol. I was the one who figured we could be friends (sorta) again, but upon reflection, screw him. I will make his life hell instead...lol.

That has to suck. The kid gets his butt spanked at the track, hopefully "in the ring" soon and then he'll have rank pulled on him.

I outank him by about two years, that isnt a big deal to me. Few people pull rank in my unit.
