Default LS1 Z28 opinons?

I am gonna part out my V6 from now till middle of April. Sell my car and then buy amanualLS1 Z28 Camaro with 45k miles or less. I think this is the right move sinve even with f/i, my limits with the 6 + f/iand reliability was at best mid-low 12's. I also really wanted a manual car, and this wouldbe my chance to get one.You guys think this is the right movepower wise and reliability wise?Right when Ibuy it I want to do some mods. I will have about$3.5k-$4k for mods. What would you guys suggest would give the best gains for that?I am new to the GM world of power so please point me in the right direction. I knowheads give good gains, cams give good gains, what about lt headers? Thanksfor any help and suggestions ahead of time!

Any bolt on really would help out. I'd go with the airlid, exhuast, gears, tires, CAI, intake mani., whatever else(those mods won't even be that much), I'm sure an LS1 guy will see it shortly and help ya out.

LS1's are solid. Don't worry about reliability. LS1 heads flow damn good for OEM standards, all you need is a good Cam + full bolt ons..you should be in the low 12s with out a problem. If you wanna go F/I you should stick with Ford. Superchargers for the LSX engines cost some serious $$$.

Thanks for the info so far! So heads aren't really worth it. What typical gains could I see with each mod or mods togetherif you guys know:
-heads
-cam
-intake manifold
-cai
-longtube headers
-mufflers
-cat-back
I'll try researching this on other forums while I wait for answers for this and my first post.
Thanks again for the help!

Just get a lid, headers and some sticky tires and enjoy mid 12s all day long.

I wouldn't worry at all about the LS1 broham, I'm far from knowing more than jack about how to mod them, but it's been my experience that they're reliable as hell.. And you can make an a**load more power out of them without going F/I than you can with the 4.6, which is easier on the block.. Don't quote me though, I'm slight wee todd did when it comes to chebby's.. lol

Sorry for the slight hijack, but Morbid, why is it that everytime somebody posts pics from photobucket all it does is just flash the photobucket banner? I waited for 20min the other day and the only thing that moved was that phuggin counter on the bottom of the screen. Do I need an acct with them to view the photos ppl keep posting here? [:@]
