Best RPM for Launch
Since every car is different when it comes to this, i figured i'd ask for some input. What do you guys think is the highest i can launch at without spinning badlywith my mods, and in warm weather with the stock rubber? I could just practice, but i dont wanna beat my car too much to figure it out. Usually now i launch around 1400 and dont really spin, but its not fast enough it seems
It has more to do with how you slip the clutch, than it has to do with RPM. You could launch at 4k if you slipped the clutch BAD(not ideal). You have to go out and see what works best for you. Every surface is gonna be different. What works at a stop light might be way off from what you can do at the track.
Remember, a LITTLE spin is a GOOD thing.

2000rpm....ride the clutch until about 20mph... of course I suck at driving.

I don't really know a whole lot about the S197's, but bone stock in my mach on the 245's that came with it I could launch at about 3100 rpm or so without spinning too bad, you just have to be carefull not to dump the clutch too quick the higher you launch..
Come to think of it I'll have to figure all this out again myself when I can finally track the mach with the mods.. lol [&:]

Gears make a difference too. I can slip the clutch from 3500 RPM(holding rpm above 2k) and get a 2.0 60ft with my 4.10s. Every car is different and so are drivers. Just practice and try different launches until you find what works best for you and your car.
