Default Good Price? Good Car?

Again, I'm new to GM cars and values. Going to test drive and look at this car over the weekend. Opinions?:

2002 Z28 Modded 6M

35k miles. DD for 2 years, then modded and turned into a show car for next 4/5 yrs. Asking $15.5k
Mods:
Slp air lid with K&n high performance filter
Hypertech 160 degree thermostat
Asp underdrive pulley
Fast 90mm intake manifold
Nick Williams 90mm throttle body
Eibach pro lowering kit
Kooks stainless steel 1 3/4 headers
Kooks Stainless steel ORY pipe
SLP LM exhaust
Patriot performance dual valve springs
TTperformance V3 Equalizer Camshaft
TTperformance Pushrods
Hp Racing wheels 18x8.5 fronts 18x9.5 rears
Sumitomo HTRZ II 245/40/18 tires up front
Bfgoodrich Drag Radials 275/35/18 for the rear Lots of tread left on both tires.
Billet Grille
PIAA fog lights
Touchscreen CD/DVD/Radio player

And for the dyno #'s, Drum Roll please......

427 RWHP and 401 torque.

Needs a new clutch. Gonna have to throw a catted mid-pipe to pass inspection. Also want to put back on stock springs(lowered cars aren't road friendly in my area). Gonna take out the touchscreen too, too robber friendly. And I need to learn how to drive stickin traffic(buy a$100-$500 car or use this). What do you guys think? I personally am blown away by it.

I'd offer him $14,000 and work a deal from there. Honestly the car is prolly worth every bit of what he’s asking but he has to be will to negotiate a little bit.

I'd just learn how to drive stick in the camaro. Its a lot easier to drive a high HP stick than a 92 HP beater. The only thing that you will jack up is the clutch and you have to be a total 100% tool to burn out a new clutch while just trying to learn how to drive it. You'll get the hang of it in 2 hours....that’s not an excaudation at all.

It looks like a sick car bro...keep us posted.

Definitely negotiate a little bit. I think you'll be ok with that car being your first stick. Once you get that one down you'll be a pro with any MT Depending on what new clutch you put in it though it might making learning a lot more difficult. The clutch in my old car was a carbon/kevlar twin disc which was pretty streetable as far as high hp clutches go but it was still difficult for a lot of my friends to drive....just don't go for any of the 6 puck clutches or you'll be killing yourself after your first traffic encounter. A new clutch after 35K? Sounds like he wasn't very nice to it, or drove in bumper-to-bumper traffic all day.

For that kind of money, why not a WS6? Or at least something you won't have todo stuff to pass insepection. I have never been a fan of smog delete cars, just a pita, imho.

If you get it, learn on the old clutch before buying a new one, and keep in mind that is areal car, it is going to take a clear head to own/drive one.

I don't know if the clutch is done, but with that much power over stock (300rwhp~ stock) the clutch may just feel bad and need an upgrade. Maybe? He said itfeels like it's going though so we won't know till the weekend checkout. And what's your guys suggestion, renting a stick car from mavis for a weekendand learning, or using this old clutch if it is beaten and upgrade to a better one after Ihave it down.So I'l offer him $14k or $14.5k and negotiate from there. Still looking for more opinions

How old is the current owner? It will give an indication of how hard those 35k miles were driven. Something tells me that the fact that it is having clutch problems means it was driven pretty hard.

Late 20's. His dad helped him buy the car for him when he was 22/23. But like I said before, stock power is 300rwhp and upgrading the car to 427rwhp w/o upgrading the clutch will probably cause wear problems in itself or make the clutch feel worn probably, no?

Bingo. I would also do the Carfax like Bluebeast suggested.
If it were me, my mechanic would be making the drive with me to check it out thoroughly...and that goes with buying ANY modded car.
Personally, I prefer buying stock and putting my own mods on.
