Are all 6.0 GTO's the ls2

and the 2004 was the only year for the 5.7 ls1 right?

Yes on the 6.0 being the LS2, and I -think- yes on the 5.7 for one year (I'm probably wrong on that one though).

the 5.7 LS1 was only the first year of production, 2004. All others were 6.0L LS2's

 

In the year before 2005, the only motor available was the LS1. After the year 2004, they offered the LS2 400hp 6.0 liter V7+1 motor.

just some visual characteristics if you ever pass one and want to know which one you are seeing

LS2 GTO = hood snouts, a rear bumper insert between dual exhaust, painted brake calipers.... the 06's had smoked tail lights as well




LS1 GTO = plain hood, plain rear bumper, single exhaust





the badges are a dead givaway too... I debadged mine as you can see... usually theres a 6.0 rightbeside the right rear tail, and a 5.7beside the LS1's tail... I just found the scoops and the rear bumper easiest to ID at a glance

 

Hood was optional. Supposedly you could get an LS2 without it but Ive never seen one with the standard hood.
