It is what it is...
I turn the TC off in both of my Stangs when I drive, well most of the time I do. The only time I was at the track in my S197 I left the TC on and ran some 9's in the 1/8, but I cant say that leaving the TC on had alot to do with running those times. It was my first time on the track ever in the Stang and I didnt launch hard, powershift and I shifted at like 5700rpms. There's a big car show and race going on at the track on Saturday that I plan on going to so hopefully I'll get into the 8.6 range. Just dont know if I wanna keep the TC on or turn it off now, LOL.

Next time I intend to start with the TC off, and learn to drive the car with it off. I was just too preoccupied with first time nerves to pay attention to the detail of my TC still being on (due to my constant engine shut offs while waiting in the staging lanes).

Well, I know I would have done better to just leave it on...because my first 3 runs were made with it on. If you wanna run with it off (which is probably better for a non-FI S197), make sure EVERY pass is made with it off. TC definitely effects your learning curve on a car.....as I found out tonite. I knocked 3 tenths off of each run leading up to my non-TC run....where I was clueless, leaned into the throttle too much too early, and was cursed with wheelspin beyond my ability to overcome.

im pretty sure the new edge's traction control doesnt just cut fuel, it pulls all the timing out of the car, causing it to fall flat on its face. So the slight lean it runs, doesnt matter because theres not timing for it to detonate.

heres the thread in the 4.6section that I was talking about. If you have a tuner, you can turn TC control off permanently, which most tuners do when you go to FI
