Default The track - step 1 complete

I just got back from Englishtown, and no, I didn't run. My plan was to go and watch to see how the whole drag process worked. There was a Corvette challenge today and some members from another forum said I should go. There were other cars running besides Corvettes - lots of Fbod, GTO's, Fox Bodies and a bunch of bikes (some dude went 8.7x a 15X. I was scarred just watching him). There were some pretty fast cars there, but I only saw one silver C6 Z06. I saw him run twice and he ran an 11.3X and an 11.5x. There was also a turbo'd C5 that hauled ***. Ran a low 10. I feel much better about going for the first time now that I see how it works. The C6 Z06 didn't leave hard either time, nor did he bog or spin. He looked like he new what he was doing. I saw 2 S197's run low 14's on some terrible 60's (2.3 and higher). I also saw two new Civic Si's duke it out. One of them just spun the crap out of his tires through 2 gears and had a 60' in the 3's. He ran in the 16's and his rival was in the mid 15's. There was also an STI limited there that ran 14's. His launch was pitiful both times. It looked like the track was very well prepped, and he just bogged the crap out it. I also saw an LS2 GTO snap something right off the line. He didn' move more than 2 feet. He had to be towed.

I went by myself and ended up bs'ing with a cool older guy (maybe 45) who had a modded LS2 GTO. He said runs mid 12's with it, but he wasn't running today. Cool dude. Anyway, some crappy camera phone pics:

cool man, now it's time to get your feet wet! The track is a good place to meet some cool guys. It's all about the cars there. I've made plenty of friends at the track that drive all different types of cars. Now you've got your recon done, it's time to let the girl stretch her legs out! Be prepared to become addicted too!

I forgot to mention that there was an LS3 Vette there that was going for the bone stock record. I think he ran a high 11. I will have to check the other forum later.

I know how you feel Bick. Nerves about putting my car on the track kept me from going for over a year. It's one of those things where you just have to jump in and go for it. I feel 100% better about the track since going Wednesday night. I was a little disappointed with my times, but for it being my first 4 runs ever.......I can't complain.

Just a word of caution. You WILL learn how inadequate street tires are for the track if you don't put some DR's on. But.........your chances of breaking something are far less if you stay on the factory radials. Good luck, and let us know how the first trip down the 1/4 goes.

I am a little nervous about the tires. They have 10k on them now and usually people replace them around 12. They have tread, but they are getting close to the wear bars. I don't want drag radials though. I don't want to run seperate tires. I am just going to upgrade the stock EMT's to either the new Bridgestones or Nitto Invos.

I did get squirly last night downshifting to 3rd on the highway. The runflats really hate the cold.

Congrats on going. I'll be there soon enough. It looked so much fun, especially the braket racing.

All the bikes that were running today were in the 9's and letting off to boot. That takes some sack to run the bikes. One guy yanked the wheel up when he shifted to 2nd. I bet that made him pucker.

lmao, in florida, when i was on the line, ALL I COULD THINK IS "DONT WHEELIE, DONT WHEELIE, DONT WHEELIE"

i ran some CRAP times in florida, and now that im in colorado its going to take alot of practice.

my bikes geared really low, so my problem is launching, im ether to low and bogging a lil, a lil to high and picking up the frount, or im spinning.

here i should be able to launch better, so thats what im hoping for, becase i was in the high 11's with the ****ty launching[:@]
