GM guys...
GM's old northstar motor made 320hp out of a 4.6L naturally aspirated v8....in a family sedan. And now has a V6 motor, that replaced the Northstar, that makes 302hp....
Hell, they took LS6 heads and put them on a 302 a while back and made 420hp....
When it comes to a small block motor, GM has it mastered. There's no way around it.

power? GM > ford
reliability? GM < ford
there was already problems with the GTO (canister purge valve crapped out).... luckily I have a 3 year bumper to bumper powerhouse warranty on it and I got it fixed that day
but out of the 30K miles on the 4.6L SOHC motor not one thing went wrong with it, and I've had the GTO for not even 1K miles
same with my avalanche, it had the vortec V8 and the water pump crapped out with not even 5K miles on the thing
I love the GM cars... but be ready to drop some bills for problems

pushrods for the win. my 1969 346 is making enough power to move my 3700lb car into the 12.30s...
i think that the original comment should have made mention of the 2V heads...the 3V and 4V heads have proven to make power NA...at least in comparison to the 2V.

.....Back to the topic at hand.
When I joined here I was Mustangless and only had the Vette which was bought 1 month prior to joining...I came hear to learn about the car that I was planning to get....and sure enough I bought one...
At the time posting in the tech/genral topic sections before owning my Stang would most undoubtly brought on pissing matches....So I spent my time here ....and stayed!!
Amazingly, mrrogers signed up one day after I did and we were the only two Vette ownersthat posted here andused to shake things up in here quite a bit...lol
Corvette Forums have too many old farts that will lobby for a banstick on anyone who even tries to post a kill story..
LS1 tech has too many members with their F-bodies posting unbelievable kills....half are BS..

I'm here because I owned a 2000 GT Vert and I wanted to mod it. I googled "Mustang Forums" and this popped up. This site, epecially the 4.6 tech and pipes/boost/juice sections, helped me learn how to mod the car to 400 rwhp with very good traction.
Back in the late 80's/early 90's I owned an 84 Mustang GT Vert, so I have always been fond of Mustangs and I always will be. I do not like the LT1/LS1 FBod's looks. I like the power, but not enough to opt for one over the Stang (test drove one before I got the '00). I was never a huge Vette guy either, until the C6 dropped. I saw a commercial for it during the Super Bowl and fell in love.
Anyway - my first Mustang (not an actual picture of the car):

My last Mustang (being driven by the forum member I sold it to):

Took out 3 trannies.). My 2000 Cavalier Z24 took a beating like no other, and I never had a problem. I had it for about 15k or 20k miles and was on it all the time. Never had to go to the shop for anything. My only problems with the Z28, at 125k, are just basically stuff that wear down anyways. Needs plugs, wires, and a header bolt that broke. I have to put a new clutch in it, but that's my own stupidity for tearing it up anyways.
