SN95 GT VS me
Had a fun little run today with a guy in a mid 90s Mustang GT. Not sure of the year, but it had the horizontal tail lights so that should narrow it down for you Mustang buffs.
Anyway, I was turning onto main thoroughfare when a red Mustang zoomed by at wide open throttle. The car apparently had an aftermarket exhaust, and the v8 note was pretty sweet as he blew on by. I made my turn and proceeded up the road.
The mustang was in sight all this time, moving rather quickly between cars. I stayed at the speed limit, waiting for a red light to allow for some catch up. As I had figured, he had got caught up down the road at a light. I made my way around some traffic and was able to line up along side the GT. As the cross light turned yellow, the stang crept up to the line. I brought the revs up and waited.
The cross light turned red, and our light hit green. We both nailed it out of the hole. Out cars were a bit even for the first part of my first gear, but as my revs increased towards 7K and above, I started to pull away.
I banged the gears through 2nd, kept on it and then hit 3rd hard. My tired chrped a bit, looking for traction. My pull was pretty steady at this point and increasing.
Winding out through third gear I managed to increase the length between out cars by quite a few car lengths. I shifted into 4th and proceeded to put a bit more distance between the two of our cars. At almost 90MPH I was doing 35MPH faster then the speed limit, and I had figured that I had proven my car's worth enough for one night. I moved over into his lane, and had enough room between the two of us to safely get on my brakes, making certain he knew I was terminating the run. I would have to say there was 3-4 good sized car lengths between us by this point, and that gap was only growing while I stayed on it.
After all of this went down, the guy proceeded to move over a lane and come along side me. He rolled down his window and gave me thumbs up followed by peace sign as he rolled on the accelerator and motored away. He later came to a turn and as I drove by I gave him a thumbs up back, content that the guy wasn’t a dick.
Not the most exciting of runs, but interesting enough that I wanted to make a post about it. And there you have it.

Cliffs Notes: Ran an SN95 GT with an exhaust. Pulled 3+ cars on him by the end of 3rd gear. Guy was very cool about it.

Cool car, looks clean. 200whp w/ a light car, what's it run in the 1/4?

Currently Im making 170WHP but again, thats with stock cams, intake manifold, throttle body and no tune what so ever. 180 would be easy with just some tune at this point. with the cams and a good tune over 200wheel is more then within reach. As for now, Ive managed a best of 14.4@96MPH.
The car, with a full interior, weighs 2600lbs and has very short 1-3 gearing.
Also, Im not sure if he had a GT badge on the side. Im sure you can tell what year the car was since it had the horizontal tail light reflectors. I believe it had Mustang GT on the rear bumper, but what really have it away (that it was a GT) was the unmistakable V8 burble. I do believe it was the five-oh version, not the four six
edit: ill run you for sure casper...if you will be in san diego any time soon that is.
