Default Track Tomorrow.

Well tomorrow I am heading up to the local dragstrip. (Moorseville). I have been many times with my other cars(camaro, honda prelude) but never in the stang since I got it. The car has a set of decent tires(75% or better) 245/45/18s Wrapped with Nexxon Tires. Well The rear end in the car is a 4:10 and I was wondering how I should launch? 1st gear is not much at all, meaning it goes through it quickly. I was wondering, would I be better leaving off in 2nd gear since it still spins in 2nd when launching and dosent bogg at all that way? Just looking for some pointers with the low rear end. Thanks!

Use first. Try and launch from a low RPM while slipping, don't dump it and go. You would really be better off with drag radials.

Yeah, I usually dont dump the clutch, never had luck with that. So I guess Ill use 1st and feather it then, ill be there awhile (6-10) so ill have a little bit to get used to it. Would actual slick hurt anything? A buddy of mine has some 15 " slicks he had on his fox body thats a straight up strip car, If I can get some 15 " wheels Ill use those, but I dont know if I risk breaking something hooking up like that.

It's always possible to snap an axle or something else in the drivetrain when using slicks, especially from a high RPM dump. You don't have a whole lot of power, so you are a little bit on the safer side, but you must understand you do run that risk of breaking ****.[&:]

LOL at going to Slipsville/Spincity. Get ready to spin your ****ing *** off and get 2 runs in 4 hours

Sorry I'm still bitter about when I went 2 weeks ago/whole last year. Place sucks too much for me to waste my money going up there now. I got 2.0x 60's by just rolling off idle with street tires+4.10s. You try anything more than that and you'll discover why they call it Spincity

Get the slicks I wouldn't really worry about breaking the axles with your power. Doesn't matter at Slipsville you won't break anything other than your heart/ego[&:]

Ive been in my other cars and spin but its not as bad as you say it is lol, at least not for me, plus I was only in a 4cyl and a 6 cyl those times. Last time I went I ran 8 times in 4 hours, it was running smooth. The time before that I got about 6 in. You must have went on a bad day? lol

when i had my 5spd (tremec)--- i left at 4500, on ET streets, w/ the bottle, in 1st... But yeah i have ARP studs, Moser Axles, c-clip eliminators and all that w/ an aluminum driveshaft... Never hurt it....& never bogged--- 1.7 60's all night w/ 2 12"s in the back running heavy cobra r's up front...
What all is done to your car? in the rearend--- no axles or nothing? jus wondering.

As far as I know stock? The guy who had the car before me was an older mustang fanatic with a few of um, it had the 4:10 when I got it. Its way quicker than both of mu buddys 04 gts that are stock except for exhaust, both 5 speeds as well, so I have no idea what all is dont to the drive train. As far as I know just has 4:10s, Drop In Filter, UPR O/R X-Pipe, B&M Pro Ripper, Full exhuast from manifold back, and I believe thats it, he gave me a sct xcal 2 with it but needed to be de tuned. I dunno if it was dyno tuned but for some reason it spark knocks without using premium fuel so I dont know. Any way to tell if they are diff axles? Oh an I believe the clutch is upgraded, its a lot stiffer than those other 2 gts and it grabs like crazy, but it does release kinda high.
