I've seen one (dealers lot), and I'm not a big fan. Though, they are supposed to have a bit more power than the SRT4s (stock), haven't seen any driving around. Dude @ the dealer said they couldn't give it away. Meh...

I also saw that the R/T has an AWD option but the SRT doesn't.
I saw a srt caliber on the road a few days ago, they do look a bit better in person then in the pictures I have seen of them
They are still ugly though, the neons looked alot sportier in my opinion

I haven't been on here in awhile, so I hope nobody has started a MazdaSpeed thread lately. Anyway, I stopped by the dealership this weekend to have look at one and possibly drive it around the block to see what the deal was. It was a 2007 MazdaSpeed 3 hatchback sport model. The salesman told me it was quick, but I had my doubts. I ended up taking it home for the night and was very impressed. The thing flat moves, IMO. It pulled way harder than I expected. Have any of you guys had any run-ins with one, or any track experience? I'm very curious what they are putting to the wheels and what sort of ETs they are running. The one I drove was totally stock btw, I went over everything to make sure. I believe that with a tune and a couple of simple bolt-ons, they could start embarrassing people real quick. On the other hand, it could just have that sotp feel and not really be moving out all that fast.
It didn't handle as well as I expected though. My Mach feels tighter around corners than the speed3, but that also could be due to the fact that I am more accustomed to the Mach and feel more in control due to that.

However, the CSRT4 transmission shifts better, the motor is a bit more entertaining, and it has more interior room. It also has a lifetime powertrain warranty and is 5 star crash rated.
I live a few miles from the plant that builds them too, which I considered. You might want to take one for a spin.

I looked at the Mazda also, but went with a CSRT4. The Mazda is a bit quicker in a slalom, and has better grip for racing, but straight line performance is almost identical. I would give the Mazda the vote for the nicer interior materials also.

Btw guys, I ended up buying an 08 MS3 this weekend in case you didn't read it in my other thread. Gears is hooking me up with a Mazda CAI for cheap that he can't use anymore due to his upgrades, so hopefully that'lladd a few horses and let me hear the turbo a little better.
