Tonight I finally got to go to the track again. Last time out i had BFG drag radial,k&n,x pipe catted and ran a best of 14.3@98 with a 2.1 60. Well on Mon. I installed a set of 3.73's and a predator tuner so I decided to head out. I was dissapointed in my car my first run was a 14.5@97 with a 2.18 60. Then I did a little better and ran a 14.2@98 with a 2.02 60. Then another mustang guy up there suggested i shift at 5,700 out of first which was what i was doing and then 6 the rest well i did better again 14.1@99 with a 2.0 60. Then I ran again and got a 14.2@97 with a 2.0 60. My question is what should I shift at and with them BFG's how should I launch i started the night doing 3G dumps but that wasnt working so i did 3G kinda ride it out and got hte 2.0 I know my car should cut better 60's and better ET's and traps????

 

Are you spinning or bogging when you leave the line. I'm surprised you didn't gain much of anything with 3.73's unless you were spinning more. Rule of thumb....get out of a gear that you're spinning in quicker. If 2nd has theHP/TQ to pull hard...get to it quicker. First gear is a gear you have to get through any way possible even though the launch is so important.

 

See thats the thing it was barley spinning but I got my best 60 bogging it I launced at like 2,500 and it bogged but got a 2.0 and my best ET. I powershift the crap out of my car to so I know it isn't from slow shifting its gotta be the wrong RPM's im shiftin at or maybe its spinning I just can't tell. I was disappointed that with 3.73's and the tuner i wasnt trapping 100 i only picked up like 1mph with gears and a tuner that don't seem right they must of been tampering with my times lol

 

Dip and spin (just a little if the box is small)your tires in the water box, 2nd gear burnout for 3-5 seconds, start launching at 5,000 and then work your way down from there. In my experience if you get the BFGs good and hot they will grip better. Also, "shocking" the drag radial got me better 60's also.

Depending on the track conditions, a clean off of the DRs worked bteer sometimes, so experiment with it.

 

I was launching at 3G I think the most part of my problem was the shift points because my MPH jumps all over the place. What should I be shifting at??
