Default 91lx vs. 69 Camaro Z28

First off let me say that this was one of the sickest Camaro's I've ever seen, because it was in perfect condition and it looked completely stock. Plus the 69's are freakin sweet anyways.

I was driving with a few buddies of mine (there was 4 of us in the car) down the interstate by my house when I noticed in my rear view that there was a 69 Camaro approaching. I got in the next lane and it rolled up next to us and I saw the Z28 badge and the 302 badge on the hood. He was driving with just his kid in the back seat. I dropped it into fourth and gunned it a little to let him know I wanted to play. We were going about 65-70 at this point. Then I heard him shift down what sounded like two gears, and we both took off. To my suprise we stayed even up to about 95, then I gained on him probably about a foot or two. It wasn't much at all. We stayed like that until he shut it down at about 110 and we both slowed down. I was very happy with my car especially because there was 4 of us inside. My mods include 3.55 gears, short tube headers, offroad h-pipe, flowmasters, CAI, and a pro 5.0 shifter. Also it is lowered about an inch and a half all around if that makes any difference. Anyways let me know what you think. I know the Z28's weren't the fastest Camaros because they were builtmorefor handling, but I was still very happy with the race.

With 4 passengers I'm a bit surprised at how things unfolded. A game "Zapper" should have fed you your a$$. Nice kill...

^^^ This is also true.. The OP'd have to have a fairly well built 5.0 fox to beat a 69 Z28, even with the 302 in the car.. especially since we know next to jack about what was done to either car, and with 4 people in the OP's car, totalling probably 5 to 600 extra lbs of weight.. Yeah, and droppingINTO 4th @ 65-70 to pullIDK, I have 3.55's and that's not what I would do. Perhaps we just need more details...

^^ lol, I didn't even realize that.. 65-70 is pretty much right at redline in 2nd gear for me, and I've got the 3.55's also.. at that speed I'd probably pop 3rd instead of trying to drop to 2nd.. Methinks you're right and the OP needs to enlighten us before the BS flag is pulled..

The weight differential notwithstanding, the Zapper 302 produced 290 oldschool HP. The OP had 4 passengers which we all know would drag any car down. We just need to know more about the 5.0 before rendering an opinion. And Subotai, although you would rape my car, the 3.55's in my carwould have me downshifting to 3rd as well...

^^ I wasn't trying to downplay your carbrudda.. I happen to like the early 90's fox 5.0's.. Like you said though, 65-70 is just the mechanical limit of the 3.55's, give or take a couple mph.. I hit a little better than 70 in 2nd gear once, though that was because I tried the brain god move of dropping 2nd from 75.. LOL Instantly bounced off the limiter, but it IS possible, no matter how much power the engine has. That's simply where the 3.55's run out of gear, at least STREETABLE 3.55's anyway, as top fuel cars run on a 3.55-ish gear ( I can't remember exactly what it is, but it's between a 3.50 and 3.55 I think), at nearly 300mph.

And yah, I have to admit, we do need more info before rendering an opinion.. it just sounds a little funny. Especially considering we don't know if the 302 in the zapper was stock or not, or the OP's car either.
