KTM 400 vs. New Edge GT?
This is a question for you motorcycle savvy people.
My friend has a 2007 KTM 400cc Enduro/Dirtbike.
I have a 2000 GT with moderate bolt ons/full exhaust/gears/weight shavings
Who will win?
I've tried convincing him that Dirtbikes are designed to go slow, and up trails...so they have very short powerbands. Next I tried to tell him if he makes it above 85 MPH he'll get scared and stop...Which he will...Next I tried to explain his tires(knobbies) are designed to grip dirt....Not go 85 MPH...at that speed I wouldn't be suprised if the tires blew out and made an annoying 5'10 red skid mark into the road.
This all started after I told him about a 1900cc Italian Street Bike I saw racing around the town, and how it would do wheelies at 1/2 throttle and probably throw the driver off at full throttle; how the guy did a burnout that made a huge cloud of smoke in just 2 seconds. All I heard out of his mouth was "My bike can do that, do that, do that"[>:] He's a very pretencious and cocky young man...should have expected that.

I've rode a DRZ400SM, and it was quick. We measured the 0-60 to be about 4.5, but that was my buddy riding and he is an unbelieveable rider. That bike had street tires though, and was set up for street. That said, you have this in the bag. The knobbies will not hook at all, and the longer the race the better for you. He'll keep up pretty good off the start, but they top out about 80-90.
Those bikes aren't made for drag racing. The one I rode was set up for road courses, and they can run with most sport bikes through the twisties.
