Default Finally raced the SI

The race was against the same guy I raced the other day with my Mazdaspeed and put a few cars on. My componet/good friend has a 2005 GLI with FMIC, BOV, BPV, Tune, downpipe, and a pretty bad *** suspension geared towards handling, road racing. We have been back and forth at work about what each of our cars could and couldn't do, but needless to say, he's been pretty sure of himself. Anyway, my wife and I were over at his place last night hanging out, and of course the car issue was the first thing to come up. After a little BSing, we took my bone stock 2008 SI Sedan and his 2005 modded GLI to the other side of the neighborhood where there is a nice straight away. They are still building houses on that side and it was 12 midnight, so we knew we couldn't kill anybody but ourselves if something went wrong. We lined the cars up and went from a dig. Basically, I asked him if he was ready once we both got our RPM where we wanted and yelled go. I put 1-1.5 cars on him immediately, mainly due to my limited slip and the fact that he doesn't have it. I also have better tires than him. Once I was out in front, I over reved twice, resulting in him gaining on me. He was slowly reeling me in the faster we went. His carhas much stronger top end than mine. Mine tops out around 135, but he can push his past 145.Anyway, he did close the gap and get his front bumper midway of my back door by the 1/4 mile mark, but I managed to eek out the win. He and I agreed that on the track with both of us getting a good launch, he should have a car on me. On the other hand, he was saying that with a tune and some intake work, the SI should return the favor. All in all, I was really surprised with the outcome.

Sounds like fun! Those new Si's are really nice and sound GREAT with I/H/E!! A friend of mine has one with all that and a tune. I still walk the dog on him, but his car sounds downright NASTY!

Have fun with mods!!

You f*ckin ricer.Good kill stone. If you can get him on the street you'll get him at the track. It's not like he'd be able to launch it better there. Whats a tune and intake do for those cars?

Aww, how cute. Seriously, this is like imagining two handicapped people in a foot race. [8D]
Don't take me too seriously though. LOL. Just having some fun.

More seriously though he's a road racer, and he has no LSD? Weird. I've driven an SRT4 without an LSD and coming out of corners hard in that thing could get ugly. When I bought my '05 SRT4 I made sure it had an LSD.

Also, as the owner of an HHR SS, I dig your MS3.

I'm not 100% on the benefits of the intake other than hear-say, but the tune lets the car get into VTec at 4k rpm instead of 6k rpm, which will definetely help.As far as the intake goes, if I understood it correctly,a CAI andsome kind of intake spacer are a big help. I'm not sure if the spacer is a throttle body spacer or a spacer for the intake manifold. I gotta do some more research.[&:]

lmao
Wut do those SI's run in the 1/4?
They've got about 194 at the block stock right?
How much do they weigh?
Can't be below 3000 huh?
Shouldn't be able to beat a low 15?
Or is that wishful thinkin on my part?

I've seen stock Si's run 14.9@95mph and with a few mods, 14.6's@97-98 isn't a stretch.

They have 197hp and weigh about 2900lbs, IIRC. And one thing to remember, they have a slick 6-speed. Fast shifts and staying in the powerband is easy.
