Default almost raced a 71-72 mach1

Well my close neighbor owns a 71-72 mach1, my dad and his are close friends since he owns a '69 mach, and another close neighbor owns a 71-72 mach. We were leaving one of their houses and we had a straight away after we got over some railroad tracks. He was behind me and we both gunned it at the same time, he was in the other lane at this time not really gaining anything, then i see him pull back a little and get in the middle of the road. Apparently some dumb kid bikers were going to try and pass us through the middle of the road so he pulled into the middle and didn't let it happen. I didn't even see them because I was focusing on the left side of me, whereas my neighbor said I had one right on my ***.
It ticked me off pretty bad because I knew it would of been a pretty nice race, I don't know if he would of pulled much on me or not because he didn't build his motor completely right from what my dad and brother say (he put a bad cam in it that doesn't match with other parts on his motor). But I'm thinking it would of been nice because he still has some more HP on me, I was with him when he dynoed it and it put down 300rwhp 325rwtq. Right now I'm probably around 280-285 rwhp/275ish rwtq, but I have steeper gears and am lighter. All in all I'm happy he did what he did because I didn't want an idiot biker coming in between us with the possibility of someone getting hurt.[:@] kinda long but oh well.

I'd LOVE if my dad did head/cam on his Mach. Not to mention SOME kind of exhaust.....

What color are they?

It's gotta be rare to have 2 '71-'73 Machs that close to one another, not to mention the '69 thrown in there.

I still wish I had my 71 Mach. I loved that car, black on red with a 351[sm=smiley31.gif]

How cool it would have been if you would have gotten to run.
Any chance of getting ahold of the guy and doing a "Just for fun" race?

actually there is...1 70 coupe, 2 69machs(one needs rebuilt), 2 71-72machs, 2 96-98 GT's, 1 99-04 GT, 1 96-98 cobra, 1 99-01 cobra, 1 67 fastback(being rebuilt into drag car), 1 65-68 coupe, 1 74-78 cobra II. I don't think there is anymore mustangs around but that is a lot and only in a 3-4 mile radius. hah and there is only like 3 ricers suprisingly

What motor does he have? If its the 4V 351C they make a lot of power on the top end and aren't great down low due to the huge intake valves and ports. A low rpm cam won't help so that could be his problem. One day I'll get my 73 back on the road. I have a 351 w/ 2V heads but I'd like to get the 4V with a blower to take advanntage of the big ports and retore the low end torque.
Here's an old pic of it.

That's an old school Raceway park in etown shot, pre wall and exec suites. Big *** 73 bumper is off to lighten the nose up.

he normally doesn't race any of us just because his car isn't built right. It puts nice power to the ground but the cam in it kinda of ruined it. It's kind of doggy from what I've been told. He's raced a couple of the neighbors, including maybe my brother and dad, and i know he raced our other neighbor w/ the other mach1, but i think he might be a little afraid of my car, i don't know why because i think it'd be very close with a good edge to him.

hah that's what both the guys with 71-72 machs have in color, that's why i never can tell them apart, only small details such as the lights in the grill are different.

One day I WILL have a 69 Boss 429.. one day.. [&o] Lucky bastards.. lol About all I ever see when I'm home are trucks and new edges, with the occasional 65-67 coupes thrown in there.. There's one guy in westlake that used to have a sweet looking 69 Stingray Vette, but other than the only classics I see are the big boat-assed, huge fins chevy's and 40's era Rat Rods..
