mazdaspeed 3
my friend just bought one, took a ride in it, the things pretty quick in 2nd and 3rd. he didnt want to take it from a dig himself so he asked me to and i told him im not going to be the first person to run his car from a dig, and he should man up and do it himself=P
anyway so highway and service road driving-
first time was from a 20mph roll (wtf) - advantage to him for having a 6 speed. i was in 2nd gear not in my power band, dunno exactly where but probably below 1800rpm,and he shouldve been at3500rpm. he fell half a length back at first and once i went into 3rd it was all over i pulled 5 or 6 cars on him up to about 95 and then we ran out of room.
second time was from 60, pulled on him right away and by the time i hit 120 he was about 6 car lengths back
third was from about 45 (i was in 4rd gear) and he blows by me (didnt know we were racing) and i drop to 2nd and play catchup, by the time i was at about 125 i flew by him which was surprising, i thought these cars had more top end speed than ours
i didnt drive it but he says theres not much left in the 5500-7000 RPM range, which seems odd i thought turbos were supposed to provide more high end torque than low.
both cars are stock with the exception of my axelbacks, and he is fairly new to driving stick(hes not bad, but not good)so i def had the driving advantage. nice car though

ya 6 lengths from a roll if you had a bottle or he was in the wrong gear.
they run high 13s stock with a trap almost the same as the gts. hell with only a cai i thnk they have gone 13.6.
either way nice kill. we all know you dont always have to beat the car to win the race, just the driver.

yeah liek i said he is fairly new to driving stick. he may have missed or just been slow, or been in the wrong gear, and not sure if he's fully 'broken-in' yet and if thatd play a role.
just called him he has no real recollection of when we actually raced (as opposed to him flying by me when im in 5th). i dont understand, everytime we did i honked 3 times we ran - guess he didnt realize lol. we did drive for about 2 hours but hes not sure if he missed or anything. im pretty sure he kept up from the initial roll and when i shifted it was all over. i would imagine hemishifted if i pulled on him that much from a roll, those ms3s are quick cars. or it wasnt broken in and wasnt running quite right, but doenst make sense for me to pull 6 car lengths on him. i'll repost when he learns to drive and gets some more miles on his car and see how he does
he definately dont know how to drive his car, from a roll a speed3 vs a new model gt its a drivers race depending who gets the jump first, i dont see a stock gt puting 6 lenghts on a speed3. [sm=bs.gif]
