Default 335i - Wow

I was at work and ran into a guy that used to work here (He was in the building working on our website). He asked who was driving the other BMW in our parking lot and my boss piped up. So then I asked what he was driving and he said a 335i. I said 'niiiice, lets go line them up'... right away he goes 'so the Camaro must be yours...' haha... I asked if he was modded and he said he was....ECU Piggyback, Downpipe, Intake (May have been something else but I think that was about it)... I asked if he ran it and he said no not yet... his buddy has the same mods and went 11.80s a few weeks ago.. I told him he would smoke me and we starting chatting for a while...

Long story short he gave me a ride (I didn't know him well enough to drive it, though the offer was there)... The thing pulled liked crazy...way different powerband than I am used too... car was all over the road and he had traction issues from every speed he hit it from... very solid car. The interior (which I guess I still don't get?) was the same as the 325 that another guy at work had so nothing there to really speak of but performance wise it was pretty damn sweet.

Wouldn't own one (too much money for me) but damn impressive car...

There would have been a race but he would have spanked me...I don't have that big of an ego problem. haha....

Well im sure if you HAVE the money you will own you, dont you think? Things is some people can afford them some not. Nevertheless i hear nothing but good things about that car and 11.80 is preety sick for just those mods.

Nah...if I had that kind of money I would be buying a base C6. The 335i was cool but it just didn't feel right. (reminded me of my G6 honestly [and I'm not ripping on the 335i at all with that statement])

A buddy of mine has one with similiar mods; almost identical, really. He is in Iraq on a tour, but when he gets back, we are going to run it. He said he is pushing over 400awhp; if that is the case: DAMN! I will be sure to post up what happens when it does.

his buddy ran 11.80s so he must too....LOL 11.80s has been done by a very few with those mods, plus exhaust. The guy prob wouldn't crack 12s if he went out to the track. Especially in the summer time. My brother is running high 12s consistently, trapping around 107-109 at this time of the year with procede version 3 and open cone intakes and he goes to the track every week.

Only two people that I know that have ran 11.80s are the guys who did the tunes for the 335. I'm sure they are running a more aggressive tune than they sell.

Yea, 11.80s sounds a bit too fast, but I don't know that car well so I just STFU.

I guess I'll be finding out sooner than later when my boy gets back.

That different powerband you're referring to is the fact that with Twin turbos it has a FLAT TQ curve (line actually ) from 1500RPM all the way to redline practically. It's not like a regular power band that goes up as the RPM increases..nope..90-100% TQ available from 1500 all the way up.

Yeah it was very strange... just accelerated with no change whatsoever... (the Single Turbo LS2 I rode in recently felt like someone was rearending the car and pushing it) this thing felt like you were being pulled along at a perfectly steady rate...

I was merely referecing what his friend ran with similar mods... (for perspectives sake).. Just like rugedraw said, I don't know the car performance with those mods so I can't say what it would or would not run short of what he related....

I got you...

Of course I quote what you and Gene K have done with CAI/Tune S197s so I'm just as guilty as he is.
