Default Street Race question

I've got a '98 automatic V6 Mustang that's pretty much stock except for some headers and a new exhaust.

My buddy's got a '01 or '02 Ford focus. Its a V4 with standard transmission.
He says that in a race, he'd completely whip me. Is that so? Because I don't exactly want to get out there and get my *** whipped by a Focus. I couldn't show my face in public for a while.

I don't know if he would beat you but I know for sure that he does not have a V4.

Then what does he have? Because I did some research and that's what it said unless my sources are mistaken.

EDIT

Oh, I was wrong, he's got a I-4. so which is better, inline or V?

I4. A V4 would be a V style engine with two cylinders on each side, I4 is 4 cylinders in a straight line. Also I would imagine you would win if he is not modded, but then again I don't know what the power output is on one of those.

Yeah, I'm just insanely worried because he's so damn confident. But then again, its not even his car, its his dad's.

well his car probably weighs less than your car, so if the power is similar he would probably win.

I've only personally seen the car once, and only long enough to confirm its a Focus. After talking to him some more recently he says its an '01 or '02. The '02 SVT Focus is considerably lighter, with a bigger engine. =\

An svt focus was a high 15 low 16 second car. Even modded they weren't really that fast. I found a dragtime example of a focus running a 14.5 with a supercharger. I wouldn't sweat the focus unless he has a big turbo under the hood.
