me: stock

him: 1990 5.0 5 spd with a cobra intake and cams..i'm pretty sure he does NOT have full exhaust.

we hav raced a little while back before he had his intake and cams and of course i murdered him. but he is positive he is gonna take me.

what do you guys think?

 

5.0 vs 06 GT, my money is on the 06 GT. The old 5.0's are weak. Baseline hp on a 5.0 was like 200hp at the flywheel.

 

Baseline crank hp at that year was about 225....but I still don't think he'll take you.

 

If you got 225 it was usually the Cobra Model wasn't it? Not real sure. The new v6 will probly beat the old 5.0 or give it a hell of a run.

 

you should still take him.
does he have HEADS? cuz the e7's are the most restrictive part of the
stock h/c/i set up. the intake and cams should help him out though.


and careful on bashing the 5.0's trines80.
yes stock the 302's arent anything spectacular.
but, if you're stock and run up on a h/c/i-exhaust fox with saaaay... 3.73's, you'll find you're self eating your words.

+1 to 99 the cobra had 235hp
the GT and 5.0 LX had 225hp

and a new v6 wouldn't quite be as close as you think. the 5.0 out torques it by 40ft/lbs and out powers it by
15hp. not to mention the foxes are a good deal lighter

 

i just asked him and he told me he DOES have headers..i dont know why i thought he didnt

 

ok guys he just texted me his setup and it is:

headers, intake, cams, and cobra intake manifold with a rebuilt short block and crank shafts

now what do you guys think?

 

I think you should just run'em and find out. Bench racing accomplishes nothing in these cases.....unless the input of everyone here decides whether or not you are gonna race him.

 

thisblood: i totally agree but if you guys think i wont be able to beat him i would rather not race because i will never hear the end of my friend talking mess if he beats me.

if i had my stock 17's and tires on i wouldn't hesitate to race him..but i'm concerned the 20's are going to slow me down enough to give him the win.

 

When you say rebuilt, what do you mean? Rebuilt back to stock, or rebuilt for racing. If he upped his C/R and stroked it, you could be in a world of hurt. That's something you'll probably need to know to be able to guage accuratly. You say he's confident he's gonna beat you, and he knows your setup so you never know. Maybe he got some NO2 or something too.
