after that I might just do LT's and exhaust and see where I'm at... at the power level I'm at now I launch just fine on stock rubber (on the street anyways)

truth be told anyone can get these cars to slaughter from a stop... the trick of the matter is not to spin at all or even try for a high RPM launch, because if you spin you won't be utilizing the power of the car (great 1st gear ratio and 300WTQ@3200RPM).... even a babied launch that is underpowered will get out the hole 100 times better than a high revving dump... in a GTO if you spin you might as well throw in the towel on whatever race you are in

now M6's... that's a different story, lots of work and practice for those sorry souls
Not if you know how to drive a car. I mean, by no means is it easier than cake, but the whole reason I swapped in a T-56 in place of a built automatic was because I love working with a clutch a hell of a lot more than without. It was harder to launch with my AUTO in the car

BTW I wasn't intending to sound like a dick, or poke at anyone, just saying that it isn't that difficult to launch an automatic

a ford auto swapping to a T-56 in a mustang is a different story entirely... apples and oranges

not only do you not have to worry about IRS and notorious wheelhop but in a GTO the M6 has an entirely useless first and second gear ratio, and that's not it.... A4's have the ability to pre-load their suspension before launch making wheelhop basically a task to coax out of the thing at launch.... the big problem with the GTO is that the center section of the rear suspension is too low, statically the axles are straight and under load they are over center. Ideal, would be to have the rear higher so that under load the axles would be straight or considerably less over center.

this is also why I am getting a raise in the back with heavy duty +5mm springs and a set of big bore shocks to handle the load better... but although the stiffer springs and shocks will handle more load this raise will ultimately impair weight transfer a bit and I will have to work from there as far as sub frame connectors and front suspension.... it will be a long a laboring task to get this things suspension the way it should have been from the factory but I have said I'm not doing any big power adding mods untill I know I can put the power to the ground

in GTO land A4's are for the strip and M6's are for the highway

I hate when that happens. All the showing off w/ no effort at all to back it up.

I think it would have been a good race, but the Termie should come out on top.
