This all went down at about 6pm yesterday. I was on my way to dinner with my GF when a Fox Body GT going the other way revved at me. My GF could see I was wanting to go but I pulled into the Cracker Barrel parking lot and started to park. She said "Do you really wanna go after them?". I said "Well, yeah". She said "Well go already before they get away!"

I pulled out and I was lucky enough that they got caught at a light but I was a car behind them in the turning lane. I revved and the driver in the GT started smiling (I saw him in his mirror) . We made the turn and I have to admit, this GT sounded pretty friggin' nasty. Faded *** paint and a little rust, but sounded good. I think it had a cam and I know it had exhaust. Who knows what else.

Anyway, I pulled up along side them and heard him downshift. I brought him down to 40mph (SRT's sweet spot) and waited for him to go. I got on it right after he did but there was too much traffic, so after about 10mph we shut down. I wasn't letting him get away! He dropped back and I was expecting him to follow me but he did a friggin' RICER FLY-BY!! He got ahead of traffic and left me 2 cars behind, but the next left turn was a two-lane road GREAT for racing down! Sure enough, he was making the turn!!

I dropped to second and waited for him to romp it! I was 2 cars behind when he did and DAMN, that thing sounded GOOD. I nailed it in 2nd and pulled a car back. I WOT shifted into 3rd and started REALLY yanking on him and by 100mph, I was 1/2 a car ahead!

The best part was my GF waving as we went by and the faces they had!! I wanted to stop and find out what they had done, but they kept going.

Lotta fun and I hope to run into them again. From a dig next time!

It wasn't stock, that's for sure. Sounded cammed. I ran one 6 months ago that sounded just like this one and he ran 13.5's@100+. I raced THAT one from a dig and got wasted BAD. But from a roll, different story.

I LOVE the sound of a worked 5.0 or 4.6. Nothin' like it

 

A cam doesn't really do a lot without heads on a 5.0 though (other than make them sound nice)

 

With the way in ran, it might have had heads. I think I know where the kid lives, so I'll ask around. I kinda liked the way it looked. Faded, rust, general crap. But it had the guts under the hood, and that's what counts

The GT I raced months ago had CAI, Headers, exhaust, GT40 heads, intake, 3.73's, and a short shifter. Oh, the heads were ported and polished too IIRC. I was VERY surprised by that car. He told me it was stock but when I heard it fire up, I knew I was in for it.

 

Ya I have gt40p heads, you can make decent power with them especially if they are ported

 

I know someone who has a really nice srt4, dang thing sounds like a muscle car (but he's put so much money into he probably could have just bout a muscle car...) He's had it up to 155 with room to go.
