Default srt4 vs. modified 351w

I raced a srt4 atleast I think thats what it was. It was one of those modified neon looking cars. Raced him from a 30mph, and lost by a car length. WE got as far as 70mph. Should I be losing to these type of cars. My setup is a 65 mustang 2800lb, 90 block 351w, 30 over pistons, 9.9 to 1 compression, EDelbrock aluminum heads, Edelbrock rpm cam, rppm intake, 650 carb, flowmasters, headers, 4.11s, and posi. THe edel kit is supposed to be making 400 at the crank. I guess next upgrade is N20, and slicks

damn, that must have been a really modified srt-4, pluss roll races is where they usually shine. You should not be loosing against one of those that often but hey there is always someone faster

+1 thats a bit of power for a 2800lb car, you sure it wasn't bluebeast that you ran into??

Don't let it get you down, as cacimar said, always someone faster out there. If this was a stock srt, Id be figuring out the problems you're having, cause theres a bunch. But, who knows, it was probably a modded to put you down by a car.

He could have been heavily modded, but I read that correctly, you ran form 30-70MPH. That not long enough for your car to get wound up. I would assume your an auto, not the beat for short roll races.

Sounds like you have sweet car. Ever had it dyno tuned? You wan tto get all you can out of that carb. My buddy has a 351C in a '70 Mach 1 ( bored 30 over, nice cam, 850 carb, C-4, 3.55's, full weight) and it a strong car. lol, at least it feels that way.

unless he was heavily modded, he shouldn't have beaten you. they're fast cars and really do well in roll races but if you have 400 hp in a 2800 pound car you shouldn't have any problem walking a stock or lightly modded one.

It would take a mid 11 second car to put a lenth on you that quickly. Are you sure he didn't pull one of your plug wires

In a roll, that turbo is ready to go.

About time your N/A big block is Starting to build its power, the turbo has fully spooled and moved a small mass in a quick amout of time.

Without knowing your rwhp or state of tune and his mod's, its very hard to calculate the results of this race.

But know, I highly doubt your making 400 at the crank, get a dyno and find out whats wrong.

What exhaust setup do you have, describe in full detail.?

What Jets are you using?

What are your camshaft specs?

Looking at your 4:10 gears, they look like the cause of your death at 70mph. At that speed, your motor was wound out.

I have 4:10s and the same happens

yeah...i don't see how your making 400hp...but you did say crank...im thinking your right around 350@ crank not 400...your cam is relatively mild. the next thing you ned to do is get rid of those **** edelbrock heads.

*Note he did not say BB, 351 is a SB...and if it was a BB with the little mods he does have it would've put him at 400-420rwhp... and the torque would've been around 530's to the tire.

I'm going to have to agree with the others on your power level. Your mod list is telling me your probably in the mid to high 200 Wheel hp range. I built a 350 chevy back in my younger days and did similar mods and I was amazed when I took it to the track it was still a high 14 low 15 second car. (79 Z28) Thats quite a bit heavier than your car so maybe your car is a high 13 second car??? That would explain how the skittle jumped you so fast.
