Cool scary

Downriver T, JimC and I were at Milan on Saturday for the NO ET Nationals on Saturday. There was about an 8 sec car being pulled forward in the lanes by a strap hooked to a huge 4X4 so he didn't have to start the car I guess. I figure the driveshaft was either broken or not connected because I heard this godawful sound and the back of the car was sliding sideways like the rear was on a jack or something. The driver of the pickup must not have known what was happening because he pulled the car right over on it's roof in the staging lanes and about 10 ft away from JimC and myself. What a crazy night. Obviously the driver wasn't hurt because the car has a cage (cosmetic damage, hell ya). That was by far the weirdest thing I've ever seen at a race track. A car roll over at 5 mph.

99GTVert - It was about 9 at night.
I was standing right there and thought the guy was going to run into Buster who was right in front of my car. He had the front wheels turned hard to the right like he was trying to change lanes, and obviously the tow vehicle wasn't watching because he dragged him sideways for 10 feet before he finally rolled over.

The other scary event was the race between two 7 second cars - as they passed our spot the winner had a body part blow up into the air and the second guy had to avoid the parts while traveling about 150 mph. He did a good job of regaining control as he did a little swerve to avoid what turned out to be the driver's door off the winner's car!

Woah....that second part was basically way back at the traps?

Damn I kinda wish I didn't have to work that night.

Were the stands almost full?

It was just crazy out there when the sun went down. I lost count but there were atleast 5 cars that crossed the centre line, one hit the wall. It was just nuts. Think about it though....these guys are going to rebuilding motors or buying new cars over the winter and this is probably the last day racing for most......

Just past the finish line, there were many people there, but the stands weren't full. But it was getting cold by the time Jim and myself made our last pass......like 40 degrees and the wind had picked up.

I would like to go to another one of these NO ET things though.....CRAZY
