Default Is 315HP enough?

Well the new 2010 Mustang is almost here and I'm sure this comes to no ones suprise. It received a wopping 15 HP increase over the current model. Will this mustang be competive with the new Challanger and Camaro? The one thing it does have going for it is price. I understand it'll be a few grand cheaper than the competition. The neon will be payed off this year and I'm looking at rear drive again. I'd just like to hear the thoughts of the other S&S on the new Mustang. Not so much to help me make a choice but just for conversation purposes.

They could have done more in my opinion, but from what I've heard (in OT that is) 2010 was just the body re-design and in 2011 they'll be dropping in a new engine (5.0 with a 6-speed from what I've heard).

I thought it was disappointing. Hopefully we'll see some more cubes in '11 or '12.

If Ford smells money by introducing a new model with higher HP/torque, then they'll offer it. Ford owns some pretty good brand names associated with the Mustang. Don't be surprised what 2011 brings...

The aftermarket is already there for the 3v cars and the drivetrain options aren't extremely terrible. Does someone know for a fact if the new 5 liter motor is mod motor technology?

The way I see it, they'll introduce a new drivetrain as a much higher priced option, or you could take the difference and invest in a Whipple that wouldn't void your warranty.

Stock for Stock I doubt it. The newer stangs as far as I've read can get down in the 12's with bolt-on(gears, intake, programmer, some suspension work). I haven't done the gears since I drive 100 miles a day but with the intake & tune its plenty fast enough for me...I DON'T street race.

with the possibility of GM not getting the bailout, there might not even BE a new camaro, let alone do we need to worry about competing with them

I'm not sure ford (or anyone else for that matter) has the wiggle room to drop a power plant right now. If GM didn't have their engine laying around from the Corvette the Camaro would be boasting a 303HP engine from their other cars.
