Default GT Vs Lightning

Saturday night I went to friends birthday party and buddy of mine showed up with his 5.4 Eaton Powered Lightning and he asked me to race him for ****s and giggles and I agreed.

Lightning has a stock eaton according to him and also has a small pulley, intake and exhaust.
We did 3 runs. Numbers * 380/450

My car is Auto 04 GT,Tune, intake,exhaust,4.10s,some suspension mods and NT01 tires. Power * 245/282
1st Run from a dig.
I slammed into it and the car hooked hard and left. He was spining and by 110 MPH I was about 4 cars on him.

2nd Run from a 20 MPH roll.
We both get on it and were even to 50MPH and he pulls me hard. By 120 MPH he was 2 cars on me.

3rd run from a Dig.
I spin a little then hook,he hooks good and takes me again by 2 and a half cars by 120 MPH.

I dont know much about 5.4 lightnings with a blower and what kind of power they would put down but sure in hell sounded like i put down more then he told me. Great racing and Im very impressed with my car.

Hey good run man. I'm proud of your car too (fellow 2v owner). I'm surpised how you pulled on him from a dig (4 cars) that was some helluva driving. Theres a guy around here with a sweet looking lightening would love to see what he's got.

Story sounds accurate. Get your whp up to about 280 and he's history.

Have to agree, the story does sound about right. Granted i have a good bit of an advantage with the blower, I've only had one lightning hang with me, and it was running a 2.4KB at 16psi that put down about 580/600. Go with some bolt ons, gears, tires and headers with a tune and maybe an intake spacer with a CAI and you should be able to take him brudda.

Traction is a huge problem for trucks period... A Blower and a couple power-adders just make it a bigger problem.

@Sub: TB spacers actually add a little power on your cars? I always thought they just added a cool "whirring" sound. :P

Nice run.

I put 2 cars on the initial hit from a 20 roll on a pullied, cai, and tuned lightning on the street. About 100-110mph I was still 2 cars ahead he just couldnt pull me in.

At the track ran a stock lightning and it was murder. he ran a 14.01 or 14.1 to my 13.2.

He spun very hard and that gave me time to hook up and once my car hooks up it moves with the gearing it has. He ran a NT 555s not the drags and I ran Nitto NT01s.I was thinking those trucks have more in them but curb weight was like 4700 lbs so about 5000 pounds with him in it and my car weighs about 3400 out of factory so 3600 with me in it. Mods I have are bellow.

JLT Intake,Proffesionall Products 70 MM Throttle Body and Plenum,O/R H Pipe and Magnapack Catback,4.10s, UPR Chrome Moly Upper and Lower Control Arms,UPR Full Length Subframe Connectors,91 Octane Tune.

Car was tuned with handheld it has more in it on wideband but I need to throw som juice on it.
