350Z highway run...
if only they took the engine and put it in a RWD lighter car... then I think cadillac might have been cooking with gas!
I remember the 4.6L north stars in the sevilles of that year only put out 275BHP... I'm curious what changes they made to make the STS version have 300BHP... other than a more aggressive tune anyways

I'm just curious what makes the L37 different then the LD8 other than a more aggressive tune... unless the tune is all that differenciates
I think the XLR northstar is a completely different engine as far as being completely redesigned to produce more horsepower although I don't remember if they changed the engine name or just kept it a "L37"
long story short... the XLR produces 320BHP with a 4.6L northstar, the seville produced 275BHP with a 4.6L northstar and the STS produced 300BHP with a 4.6L northstar, I'm curious as to what is changed to the block/tuning for the power levels to fluxuate like that
curious to learn if someone knows
maybe it's from different cams??? idk, i'm just taking a stab in the dark on this one. i'll see if i can find anything though
edit: ok, i can explain the power difference in the XLR Northstar. compression was bumped to 10.5:1 over the 10:1 of the L37 and LD8
and the tune is the only difference between the L37 and LD8
the LD8 was tuned more as a sedate engine for cruising, while the L37 was tuned more as a performance engine

I've beat a 2002ish BMW 540i by the same amount up to 120MPH
conquered a G35 by 3 car lengths on a highway run
downed a 2004 4.2L A6 quattro by 2 lengths on the highway as well
havn't ran into a GTP yet with the lincoln, only in my stock GTO, and I walked it about 4 car lengths... claimed to be cammed, pullied, full bolt on's and the works.
also think about this... we are comparing an all motor 3.9L to a supercharged 3.8L... and I've already walked on the faster 5.3L of the same type of automobile.
what people fail to understand is the lincoln LS is accomplishing alot with what it is given and I have about 200% more luxury and comfort than some of the cars I am beating... more curb weight and less cubic inches as well
face it, for a 3.9L luxury sedan this thing holds it's own... it's basically a modern V8 E36 M3 with more luxury and it's better to look at... I'm awfully sorry it wasn't designed to hang with completely worked LS1 drag cars, corvettes and vipers... but then again this is S&S and I wouldn't expect the masses that inhabit it to understand logical comparisons for performance

people like you fail to realize that other people could care a less about what a completely dragged out LS1 can do... they race with what they have, beat what they beat and lose to what lose to and have fun
in fact ever since I bought the lincoln I quoted that it wasn't fast but was rather quick for what it was... a nice peppy luxery sedan with small displacement
I can see your second coming will be a bitter one if all you can do is look for arguments that aren't there by going "HA! I have an LS1 and all my cars are faster!... look at me my cars, I have an elephant with small gun emplacements on it's hips and a rhino with dual weilding tuba's!"
I frankly don't care to be honest lol
PS: I never have thought my goat was fast... in fact I hate it as far as reliability, and further reminded me why GM's are unreliable POS's... faster than my mustang? yeah... but sadly enough it's spent more time in the shop than playing around
