Default Short (60') Times

Is 1.969 a good 60' time for stock tires/suspension/stock TC/auto trans? Just wondering if I could improve on this much or if I am already at the outer limits of this setup.

I have some 4.10's coming so I am probably going to have to relearn my launch too, which I am not really looking forward to...

You have a 5 speed though right? From what I've seen in everyones sigs 5 speed seems to be more capable of better 60' than people with Auto unless you start to get into Aftermarket Torque Converters and stuff.

I think that's true because you can ride out the clutch. I pulled a 1.8 with my 5 spd on stockers

I might see if I can best it this weekend if the track ends up being open. If I remember right though, that 1.969 was launching it as hard as I could on the stock TC with almost no wheelspin, but maybe there is a little more in the stock TC.

That's a pretty great time. What tire PSI did you use?

I believe this was around 30 PSI. I am going to try dropping the PSI down to about 25 next time... also this was with a burnout and going through the waterbox.

Contrary to what a lot of people said the water box + burnout seems to be bringing down my 60' a lot from mid 2.0s down to mid 1.9s. But basically trying to figure out if there is more room for improvement with these tires.

It's contrary to everyone that hasn't been down the drag strip. They'll always tell you not to do a burnout with street tires. You've gotta take some of the advice in here with a grain of salt.

A little heat will help any tire hook up. Just don't melt them off.

Anyway, thats a pretty good time over all with what you've got done to the car. Exhaust and a tune is turning out 13.0's with an automatic? I'm impressed. Get yourself a big converter and a drag radial, and you'll probably knock another 1/2 second off.
