Default S197 vs. 5.0 Fox

From last summer, finally got the video online

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d33lVvIgmI0

AFAIK the 5.0 had some sort of aftermarket head, E303 cam, trick flow intake manifold, long tubes and 2.5" piping, 3.73s and ET streets

We had a second race I don't have online yet and he got me by a nose.

Watch in HQ, it's impressive

not too shabby. could definitely hear the Fox more. sounded good too but you got the win, and thats all that ever matters.

Good run man... Man I didn't expect that 5.0 to run low 13's.

why?

ive seen 'em in the 12's with that list of mod's.
(well the e303 is crap.)

a coupe fox with minor weight reduction will weigh 300-400lb's less then the s197's
(my car without me in it is 3250, and thats "heavy" for a fox (mainly the convertible aspect)

That 5.0 could easily be 300rwhp if it has decent heads, thats more than enough to beat on a bolt on s197 especially considering the weight difference between the two

I guess that all depends on what bolt ons the s197 has.

Noone seems to know what the real curb weight of the s197 is either. Ford wouldn't tell me when I called them. And if you search around the internet the figure is different depending on where you read it @. KBB for instance lists the 07-09 at around 3350. Not that much off from 302army's Fox.

I've weighed my car before. With a full tank of gas, spare in trunk, it was 3475 lbs. At the track its about 75-100lbs lighter (no spare, 1/4 to 1/2 tank gas). Each individual car will vary a bit depending on options, but most S197s GTs will be between 3400-3500 pounds (more for verts).

The car I was racing ran a 13.05 later on in the day. I think I have the potential to shave off another tenth or two with more seat time. I'm still not all that great at launching the car and I don't power shift.

I wonder how 302army arrived at the figure he quoted then. Having your car weighed like you did is certainly the only way to really know.
