Default ordering helmet for track

What requirements do I need for an IHRA sanctioned track. I am looking at a helment that has M2005 and SFI-41.1 rated. Will this be adequate? Thanks

Yeah, you can get a new Snell 2005 from like a motorcycle gear shop for around $100-120.

I would personally go to a local shop and try them on as well. I am an XL but some helmets are too big in XL and some are too small.

OK so I just picked up a helmet today. Has DOT and Snell approved stamped on it.

Then I get it home and notice it says "Snowmobile use only".

WTF is up with that?

That's the one I have.

Who cares. If it's the one that has the Snell M2005 rating you're fine, that's what NHRA and IHRA require.

It's actually M2000 rated. So we'll see if I get hassled about it tomorrow.

They still accept M2000 as well I believe, but the older K98 and 95's are no longer allowed.

Cool yeah. I feel stupid for waiting until the last minute. I found the same helmet I got but the newer model and it's M2005 compliant. It would've been only an additional $15. I can't return the one I have because it was on clearance. lol **** me for being impatient.

Pfft, if you REALLY wreck anyway...the only thing the helmet will do is keep your brains from going too far from the rest of your body.

They're really good for minor wrecks though where there's flying glass and your head gets tossed about.
