Reaction times?
hey everyone i got a question that ive been debating about for a long time...well here it is: does the reaction time at the drag strip count somehow toward ur time or is it just for u to konw ? thanks a lot
I had the same question.....I just went to the strip for the first time and I thought R/T didn't matter. But some dude kept telling me that it starts as soon as the light turns green?![&:]
A Supra, was spooling up the turbo, I think, or reving the boost to maximum pressure. He was at the line for about 3 seconds. His car cut off the first time he did this; so I thought it was happening again. He let it go and ETed at 9.65, for a 1/4 mile. I thought he actually did a 6.65, because of the 3 seconds.
The purpose of Reaction time:
Reaction time does matter and does surve a purpus, but does not affect your ET/mph.
Drag racing the first one to cross the line wins.
Example:
Car 1 runs: 13.0@105mph with a .400 reaction time.
Car 2 runs: 13.0@105mph with a 1.100 reaction time.
Which one wins? Car #1 even though they both ran identical times car 1 left the line first so he crossed the finish line first.
Reaction time plays a HUGE role in competition (heads up or bracket) racing and .001 can mean the difference between a loss and a win.
