Default auto GTs please chime in..

Heading back to the track this weekend.

How do you high hp AUTO guys launch and what's your consistent 60 ft. times?

I know it's a lofty goal, but I am aiming for 1.8s on the 60 ft. and 13.1/13.0@103/104.

My first run of the day was a 13.5 with a 2.3 60 ft. and 103 trap speed.

After that I was pretty much flubbing the launch but still getting 2.4-2.5s and that's REALLY flubbing the launch. Averaging anything from 13.7/15.0 with the same trap speed of 103.

I think I got how to launch and the whole power braking part down after messing it up so many times.

I figure, if I can get the 60 ft. down ridiculously low, I can pull a great time. Being an automatic, if I get that down, everything else should take care of itself.

I was able to get a 2.0 60ft (which.. for da, would probably be more like a 1.9) with MT drag radials I got a 2.4 when i wasn't in the grooves and didn't do a good enough burnout and held the brake down a little bit after i stabbed on the gas, that made me peel out like mad.. I got the best out of my stock tires by just revving it to about 1.5-2k rpm then letting off and stabbing the pedal.. still resulted in squeeling tires and 2.1-2.2 60fts though.. I really dont have enough experience yet though.. wish i could have made more passes.. I wont get another chance for 3 weeks.. oh, and i have the 17" wheels.. which helps.. 18s are heavier and.. ofcourse bigger

I'm up at 5000' and my 60's are 2.1-2.2. I don't need DR's yet...still not having any traction issues. I launch at around 1500. The car seems to bog more if I try and launch at 1800-2000.

What kind of tires are giving you those terrible 60 ft times? If you don't have drag tires then get a pair.

tires are fine.. it was my launching technique that sucked last week. I been practicing and got the whole power braking thing down so I should be getting better 60 fts.

I really have to hold the brake down HARD while revving it to 2k, then ride the gas a little making the tires screech, once the car begins to move I go WOT right away.

What I used to do was try to floor it as soon as the car moved.. bad mistake! The funny this is that I did that all day last week thinking that it would eventually hook! Boy was I wrong!

Once I realized how well my car was reacting when I starting doing a small burn out after going through the water box.. it all just clicked. Get the tires moving (at the lights) then give it hell once the car get's going!

Noice.

Just got back from the track.

Best of the day was a 13.2@ 102mph.

Average of the day was a consistent 13.4@103

Average 60 ft. was a 2.1. That 13.2 it was a 2.0!

Also got a handful of 13.3s/13.5s@103.

Overall, the mini burn out proved to be successful. Instead of driving around the water box, I drive right through it.. do a small burn out to clean the tires off then stage.

My launching technique is good but not on point just yet, though I have WAY more traction off the line then last week. Considering that my 60 fts. have always been 2.5s, it's a pretty damn good improvement!

My trap speed seems to be stuck at 103. even when I was running 14.0 for a run.

Not exactly 13.0@104 like I wanted but so much better then last week!

next mods will be JBA ceramic titanium shorty headers, spydershafts and that's about it for this season... that should get the car down to running 13.0@106 I predict, just as long as my 60 fts. stay at about 2.1/2.0.

PS,
not sure if the cut outs really do squat in terms of opening up additional HP- but I notice that throttle response is alot sharper with them open. I tap on the gas and the car hops. With it closed it barks the tires loose a little bit but not too much.

Though I have way more traction then last week, at the top of all gears I could feel the tires fighting with the track. I had traction, though it was working very hard to get it. I seriously think I could be pulling some 13s flat consistently with some good DRs. That's pretty good considering I have only 2 real mods other then the noise maker ( cutouts)

Ive gone the best of 13.00@107 with a 1.72 60' time. Are you having traction issues? I havent been to the track since ive replaced the axles with forged mosiers. We will see how low i can get the 60' with launching with the trans brake.

what mods?? you must have a 5 speed.

there was a 07 5 speed that was trapping 106 and running 13.2s all day last week.

intake/tune only..

if you get some mt's or hoosier's they will make a huge difference. I use them and i rev to 2200 rpms then smash the gas. They hook great i run low 1.6 all day.
