even if it could do 120 i can far exceed that speed so i am not to worried about racing her. But she is telling me that it will do 120 and i dont see a 1999 firestone catastrophic blow out explorer being able to exceed 105. just dont seem right.

I had my 99 grand cherokee up over 100 a couple of times. It was faster than I really wanted to go in a 4000lb brick on thick all terrain tires, but it was still pulling pretty good. I don't doubt that a 302 equipped Exploder could do it as well.

Early 90's explorers cut out at 95, but somewere in the later 90's they bumped the governer to 105 or 106..

cool thanks i new she was full of it. When she was talking about it she was saying it would do 120 because thats what her spedometer went up to. i was like no it will govern out at whatever the tires from the factory are rated at. it is also a 2003. she stated she had it up to that on the way to los angels. hey thanks for the info.
