My best friend has a 335i 2 door manual. Its a really nice car and with the inline six coupled with the twin turbos, its got power everywhere. I will say its top end is better than the low end.

If he's stock you have him. Both making just under 300rwhp and weight is close but you got the gear advantage.
Yeah man..... No 3rd and 4th gear. Once I put it in third (also fourth) it grinds and pops out of gear. It's in the shop now. Man I miss my da** car, lol!
Those things hit peak torque at 1500 RPMs... they have a very wide and flat torque curve. From what i've heard a simple tune/chip put's them in M3 territory. It's 2 small turbos running low boost with high compression(for turbo... 10.2:1) Modded, they are quite a handful. Even stock would give a stock S197 or modded New edge, a run for it's money.
You did good OP. The 335i is a quick ****. Sounds like his turbos were getting it when he put that car length on you all at once.
335i (and most other twin turbo cars) have a very FLAT TQ curve that starts at around 1500-1800 and doesn't let up until 5000rpm so his turbos will "get-it" even off the line.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info, Derf00. I would love to test drive a 335i just to see. BMW seems to be having some overheating issues with them though.
