Default Track Results & Question

Went to Milan today. Surprisingly, hardly anybody was there. Today was a warm day, in the low 80s & a little humid. Hopefully next time there will be a bunch of MFers for a TNT day.

My best today was a 13.71 @ 100 mph...a few tenths and 4-5 mph off of my personal best. However, on today's pass (along with another pass), I cut a 1.82 sixty foot time on the Nittos. I love those tires.

I was a bit surprised at how much the weather and heavier wheels can effect my times (currently on the front I have 03 Cobras, my best passes before I had 95GT wheels on the front).

Do you guys think that 13.2xx's are within reach when the weather cools down? I'd like to remove my tiny *** sub/amp, put the 95GT front wheels back on, and try removing the pass. headlight to see if I can get any better times.

Man that is a good 60' man!!! How much more do the 03 cobra wheels weigh?? and the on your personal best did you have the system taken out along with the headlight??

As far as the weather goes I do know my dad's 99 Cobra real hot weather like you ran in he only went 13.24@104 then ran in some nice cold weather (about 35 degrees) and went 13.03@106.6 with a slightly worse 60' so yea the weather can and will play a huge roll in how the car runs.

Head over to dragtimes.com and check your times. It will give you an idea on how bad the weather was hurting you.

Thanks. I did not have the system/headlight removed when I ran my personal best.

Good idea. Supposedly the best time for me being stock/mildly modified is 13.2xx@something mph. We'll see when the cooler weather comes.

I don't recall all of your mods, do you have much as far as suspension? That thing is 60ing pretty good for just the tire, isn't it?

99, I doubt you'll see a half second gain due to weather alone. I'm not saying it can't happen, anything can happen, but its very unlikely. I wouldn't be surprised if you dropped down to a 13.4 though. Awesome 60' btw!

Right (you don't have to tell me twice. ). I intend on removing that stereo stuff and the spare/jack, and running on a 1/4 tank of gas (today I ran at a half tank), getting a haircut, taking a crap, etc. Basically doing every little thing I can do to reduce rolling resistance without spending money.

I just have shocks/struts and LCA's as far as suspension goes. Maybe I'll remove the front sway bar, but I'm doubtful the work required to do so would translate to any significant result. I also have 4.10s and full bolt on's.

On my last two passes of the day (when I got a 1.82x 60 ft time on both), I turned on some Slayer and I did a second gear burnout for about 5-8 seconds, long enough for smoke to almost completely engulf my car. I wish I had someone video tape it dammit...but anyway, I lined up and launched (clutch slip) at about 5k the first time and the second time I launched at near redline. Both times, the car did not spin, it just dead hooked & took off hard.
