Well, this'll teach me to take the bottle out of the car...

Ran into a Lightning last night when I was on my way over to pick some food up. The truck looked very clean, and it had a slight rumble but nothing that really set off any alarms in my head. He paced me for a while and then slowly got in front of me, noticed he had drag radials on...

So we're driving along and I'm behind him and I see him hand his hand out the window and he starts doing this little circle thing with his finger as we are approaching a light, cool he wants to run. So I follow him and we wait for the light to turn green before we pull a U-turn and I line up on his right (big mistake by the way on a lightning with a ****ing loud *** exhaust and your window down...).

We pull up even and I put it in 1st (around a 30mph roll), 3 honks and we're off. Both of us were spinning bad, and I got out about 2-3 cars on him before he yanked by me like I was in ****ing reverse, no clue what speed we went up to but he had a good 5 cars on me and held it there, but jesus christ that thing moved out like I was tied to a stump...

So he slows down and I pull up and he has a big smile and I'm laughing because he just handed me my *** big time, so I ask him if he wants to make another run and he's all for it, so we go down another empty road and line up from a dig.

3 honks and we're both fighting for traction, my effort for traction was beginning to be futile but I just kept in it and I was pulling ahead by about 1 car when his **** just runs by me hard again and puts a good 4 cars on me up to 140ish.

I could hear no blower, only our exhausts and he only smiled when I asked what mods he had, and he told me he was a bit surprised I kept up like I did, I told him I was damn surprised he kicked the **** out of me like he did lol. Thumbs up and we went on our ways.

No clue on dudes mods, would love to know what he is running but whatever it was it worked out damn well for him. I put the bottle back in my car when I got home, and ordered new drag radials for my car (I'm on street tires that are close to the end of their life and my other DRs sucked *** (Nitto 555Rs)). Ouch ouch ouch, dude got me real good lol.

Wow he must have had a lot of work done to pull you like that! Good loss though, hopefully you'll run into him again in the future!

 

Yeah, I just wonder what he had done. He could have just been spraying a big shot and had a lot of suspension work done, or he could have a KB and supporting mods, etc... Would love to know though Even with a ported blower, and upper / lower pullies they are only in the mid - high 12s, so it was something stout.

 

lol you never know with those lightnings, tune, gears, pulley swap, and new intake puts them at about ~510 to the rear wheels. They're scary fast lol, good loss though nothing to be ashamed of

 

Yeah, I'd love to have one. Dude had to be pushing more than 510 to run by me like he did, I'm @ 489rwhp right now on 93 and no juice, and I have some weight reduction done (~350lbs) so dude had something more done than the basics. Still can't get over how I was ahead and it felt like I hit a brick wall because dude ran on by me lol.

haha yeah, would be 2 - 0. It's all cool, guy looked like he had fun and I know I sure as hell did, damn sleeper trucks. I'll be damned if I don't ride around with the N20 and my DRs on all the time now Wonder how I'd have done with the DRs, oh well if I run into him again I'll do a couple runs on DRs and the rest on the juice and get it recorded

 

You make damn close t0 500 at the wheels without spray? I didn't know that. That's pretty impressive.

Granted it's a large *** motor compared to what we're used to running around with, but still.

Sounds like a blast. Had to be shocking as you've said to be out a car in front and 'run into that brick wall' like that.

I'd assume that does not happen very often to you.

 

Trucks have so much room under the hood it's very easy to make them sleepers. He definitely had suspension work done since trucks tend to be very light on their rears and break loose without trying.

On a seperate note, you have an SRT8 I see. I saw one yesterday as I pulled out onto the main strip from my work (gorgeous car but they are big). How badly do you destroy Stock S197 GT's (what I drive)? I was looking to get a taste run but there was traffic.

 

Races don't happen too often to me, every once in a blue moon they'll happen. But yeah, you can get ~500 out of a H/C/90mm TB/ ported intake / full exhaust/ aggressive tuning / bigger injectors (I have SRT4 stage 2 injectors) and 100+ octane gas in a 6.1, but the torque won't be up there with it. My torque numbers right now are @ 456rwtq, stroker guys are above 500 with torque numbers to match. I'm sure once people start getting the bigger cams with the new stage III heads and their bigger cams from PPP 6.1s will be over the 500rwhp mark on 93 easy (with supporting mods of course). Couple of guys have hit the 500rwhp mark on similar setups to mine, but they never kept it there long, dunno why.

Never dyno'd with the juice (150 dry shot), only used it twice just for fun and to datalog.
